G11 in 3.0 Question
I have thought about something that could make the G11 hard to implement in 3.0+.
I mean, how are you gonna handle the 'salvo' feature? The way I see it, that should be pretty hard to do. Maybe I'm just not thinkin straight. RazoR If it gibs, we can frag it. |

Well, since the G11 is still a ways off to think about, I can only speculate as to how we'll implement the salvo. I've heard that UT can't handle super-high fire rates, so if necessary what we'll do is calculate the damage done by individual rounds, multiply that by three, and make the shot as one projectile but with a burst sound.

Decyphering Gryphon's reply:
it looks like the G11 fires off a really tight burst of about 3 bullets in about the space of time most guns fire off one. <insert cute/ interesting/ bizarre signature here> |

In burst mode the G11 fires three rounds within 60 milliseconds, compared to 130 milliseconds between two rounds on full auto. That way the three rounds are already on their way downrange before the rifle recoils on your shoulder.

Exactly like AJ says, fellas........
I'm surprised that not more people know of this... Too bad the G11 project was scrapped..... RazoR If it gibs, we can frag it. |

If it was scraped, then why is it going to be in 3.0????

because the project to advance it was scrapped. It was built, it worked, but it wasn't mass produced. And it is just a damn cool weapon.

Another Question For Gryphon
Ok, that sounds fair enough, but what then about bullet holes (in walls, etc)?
I mean, at 100 yards, accuracy from a 3-round burst will be pretty good, but I suppose there will still be some spread. But if you make the salvo burst fire one projectile (like Gryphon said), wouldn't there be just one bullet hole? Hope you understand what I am getting at.... Hmm, well the shotgun can fire multiple projectiles at once ok... maybe it could just fire like buckshot, except only 3 projectiles come out, and they stay together for quite a while, accurate for hundreds of yards (and make one land exactly where aimed if possible, to simulate the first round of the burst). I really know practically nothing about how all this programming stuff works, just food for thought.

close enough
you got the general idea- 3 rounds can leave the gun at virtually the same time, and they can still react differently as the distance from their origin increases.
