Do you realize how long games take to develop? And those people spend all their days working! Now, look at Infiltration... It's taking the engine and completely revamping it. The people working on it have lives, and are quite busy outside INF. Not to mention the roadmap is out of date. Some of those things in there won't be going in (at least I hope not... Crosshairs? lol).

Hey

Hold on there, pardner. Those weren't promises, they were plans. You sound like someone who paid for something that didn't get delivered. The creators of Infiltration are working on it in their free time, and they're going to let you have it FOR FREE. So please be polite. It will be out when it's out.

Well Inf 3.0 has been out for the past year but it has only been to the forum 5 star users.

/Jason looks into his brand new crystal ball and after a long period of concentration the response is revealed never trust sheep. WTF? Not only does Jason feel ripped-off, but he relises Warren is standing right next to him. Asking for a date Warren responds Sorry, I don't swing that way. Maybe during my earlier years but these days I'm set in more traditional ways.

The roadmap is just that, a roadmap. There is no single route to take in order to get where you're going. 'Nuff said.

FREE mod

Consider yourself lucky punk.
You didn't get yourself a brand new orifice.

As for this mod we're playing, the quality of it is so darn good that it is amazing it is still FREE!!
There are quite a few games out there that said ugly words about quality just to get it out in time for the X-mas rush *cough* IGI *cough*. Well, that is one.
Now, Infiltration does not only look good it FEELS even better!
The team does not just slap things together and throw it into the game and post it as a patch. No, they work DAMN hard with every little detail.
That progress seems painstakingly slow at times is the price we have to pay and that is CHEAP BEYOND BELIEF!
So, please rephrase your question slightly.

Kiss me now damnit, NOW!
C

release

Forum regulars are very quick to jump on the backs of newbies who ask about release dates. This is usually fair as their comments are poorly worded and often *gasp* criticize the team.

However, their frustration is understandable. Most software companies have strict internal release schedules that are met (games are a bit of an exception). If products are late to market it can be the end of a company. For this reason companies are very rigorous about cutting down on what's known in the industry as 'feature creep'.

I do not know how long certain features have been planned. Infiltration appears to have the worst case of feature creep I have ever heard of (outside of the windows 94 fiasco),

The team doesn't have to answer to anyone. They're paychecks are not on the line and they have a mob of vigilant forum regulars to defend them in the face of any minor criticism.

That said, being a project developed in their spare time, it must be much harder to have an accurate release schedule.

The team is putting out a great product, but could use some work on the software engineering side of things.

I've been meaning to post something like this for quite some time. I hope the team will read it but doubt it due to the thread's title.

5 star repliers: check my registration date, I've been following this mod for longer than any of you.

Sigh i know what you mean. I thought for sure that 2.85 would be out with in weeks of xmas.. then weeks of the new year. now i'm wondering if the update will be out before apirl. It's not so much that i'm angery or upset at the team for taking their time, but it always feels like i'm being sturng along with constant "it's right around the corner" updates to the page.

I guess what really drills it home is the industry's lack of good New entries to the FPS genere. Right around Xmas i upgraded my pc with new ram, and a new cpu hopeing that slew of new games would follow... but not even my favorite MODS have turned out an update in the last couple of months. :7

ahh.. i needed to vent out like that.

boom
