UT crashes when i access Advanced Preferences

I get a general protection fault while trying to access the advanced preferences while switching back to windows....
Can anyone help?

Check your ver. of DerectX?

My Directx is 7.0 and i got the 7.0a patch of windows update so what the !@#! is the problem.
