New Beta map! DM-INF-CrashLanding (aka 'the forrest map')
I know i know..at last...
![]() Everything you need to know is below and in the ZIP file. I am very curious if you guys like this map..cause it's a little different. The fighting takes place inside a Forrest..one team are the survivors of a Plane crash and another team is tasked to elliminate them. I suggest you play it on Inhuman, 12 players. The bots will kick ya ass really hard if you set it on Godlike.. ![]() 2. You have to give the 'atack' order to get the bots moving..they react very slow if u don't. 4. The stairs.. i had no choice then to makethem big..that means u walk against hidden surfaces sometimes (i want a ladder scipt!) This i really a big problem..I hope there is a solution before i release my map. |Test report================================| I would like to know the following things after you played the map, and send it to wouter_db@yahoo.com or ICQ me at 61262785. |===========================================| 1. very important..the fps performance, i noticed very little slowdown. Other peope say it runs very smooth..maybey it's just my crappy 3D cart. 2. Also important, BSP/HOM errors.. i think i killed them all but i'm not 100% sure. 3. Bot behaviour, e.g bots that jump to there deaths..bots getting stuck etc. 4. Lightning, some ereas may be to dark/to light etc. 5. The cover..we don't want ourselves killed by snipers every step we move. 6. This map is strange. I like it, because of all this green, but ... strange.
The trees look like pillars. It will not win any good marks when it comes to realism, but I really enjoyed it. ![]() The crash-effect comes very late. It would be better if it would appear just after the spawning. I had 30 FPS so it runs fine on my machine (900 MHz / 256 MB / GeForce 2 GTS). Party's over ! *grin* |

Well..
I had no other choice them to make the tree big..it would destroy my framerate if used smaller ones.
You are right if you say this map is different...i'm getting a little bored by those 'Factory style' indoor maps. And about the 'Crash effect'..well it not referring to the downed V22 you saw..it are randomly placed triggers. I wanted to create the feeling you are in the middle of a Vietnam style war. Very cool,
I felt like I was half way between Vietnam, and ales n wonderland. I almost **** myself after that plain crashed; I don’t know what was coming. One thing though, you put the maps, and textures in a folder, to the only way to get the map to work, is to go into the Tournament folder, and move the files up-one-level to the their default directories. one thing that would really help the map is to make it darker. It would hide a lot of the uglier parts. Also I see that there are stars in the sky meaning its night time. Starlight in a thick forrest like that is nill.

Yeah, a darker setup to the map would add alot of atmosphere (think Kosovo), and I think that adding some height to the trees would be an interesting idea.
For that, all you would need to do (I think) is have a cutout texture (one that has transparent zones) that looks like a leaf texture. Then, layer two of those above the holes in the tree canopy. It would add depth. It looks great though Hollowpoint. Good job so far! This one's fun, and will be real fun against humans
![]() I agree that making it darker would add tons of atmosphere. Maybe tone down the crash effect though, it's almost more of an earthquake then an explosion (I almost tossed my cookies )<center> </center>

Haven't tried the map yet, but...
..in the pics, the trees look a bit, well, rocky. The textures looks like something you would use on a mountain-side.
But other than that. A nice looking map that I've been looking forward to playing. |

Ok... this is odd... I can't seem to get the map to display in my map list. Perhaps it's because I have half a million maps in there already? I know it's in the /maps folder, but it just doesn't wanna display for some odd reason...
