Well, it all depends. Got 64k or 128k ISDN?

What's most likely is that the server you are trying to connect to is far away, or in poor serverable conditions. Those people with <200 pings usually run with DSL or Cable, at least.

Now, if it isnt the server, it could be line noise. But you'd have to talk to your provider about that.

Not quite sure what it is, but they should have tested it when you got your ISDN. Call your provider to check to see if you have noise on your phone line, if ya want.

My suggestion

What I would suggest you do is find out the IP address of the server(s) you are connecting to and write it down. Go to the DOS prompt in your OS. Type in the following command:

TRACERT [ip address]

This will send a series 3 of ICMP packets to each hop (router) on your connection route to the server. Watch for any areas where the number suddenly increases. These denote places that are causing your lag. If you see any "*", these denote dropped packets. If you are getting any reply times of higher than 40-50ms or any dropped packets on your ISP's network, then they are probably causing the problem.

If you are unsure of how to decipher a traceroute, highlight it in the Dos box, copy it and paste it into an e-mail and I will be happy to look at it for you. You can also e-mail me your IP address and I can run a trace on it if you would like. Please do not post your IP address here, for obvious reasons.
