UNREAL FREZZES IN 3D WITH GE FORCE 256

Ok i put in my new geforce 256 based card then went to play unreal and put it in 3d (i got all the patches) and after a min or two it frezzes. But 2d works fine i tryed open gl and direct3d but nothing stops it from frezzeing. Other 3d apps work and i do see the 3d when i put it on it just frezzes after a little bit, i turn everything to a low setting but still it frezzes. its my whole comp. that frezzes so i have to reboot every time any help thanks a lot!!
