Beating Flak Ho's

K.......Once upon a time, there was these people that played Unreal Tournament. There Nicknames were -=][Stealth|Bomb][=- and Killer_All. Stealth was alot better than Killer in UT by alot. Stealth would get frag counts 15 to 3. THen one day Killer got Cable. Killer Started to put a challenge to stealth. Stealth Got betterand starting getting the same frag counts, with his crappy 56k. Well now, Killer and Stealth haven't played in about 2 months. Killer tweaks his Cable to get an even lower ping. Killer has turned into a newly improved Flak Ho. Killer can now beat Stealth. Killer beats Stealth Badly. How does Stealth beat a LPB Flak Ho? Would anybody like to play with Stealth and teach him the in's and outs of being "good?" (it seems i just don't seem to be playing Ut good).

umm...flak is usually like...the LAST thing an LPB needs. Flak is for ping challenged people who need to carpet the floor with hot shrapnel in a vain attempt to get a frag.

If it were an lpb mini ho or shock ho, that's one thing.

But a flak ho is a flak ho. Only one way to beat them: stand so far away that you can't be spammed.

• Try not to be predictable.

That's about all I can offer you. Other than that it's all in how well you aim, move, and control the level.

I tried using the flak back at him but it doesn't seem to work. My ego (which wasn't very big to start with) has been obliterated (if that's how u spell it). I heard that the sniper is a good weapon to use against him because of long range and also the shock riffle primary, if he gets close use the secondary. But with my ping would it be possible to excel in either of those 2 weapons. Up until now i thought ping didn't matter, guess i was wrong or maybe i just suck too much.

eeep. stealth, you're gonna make me cry. get on a newbie server and own some people. it will make you feel better.

what kind of pings are we talking about stealth? i recently had to switch dsl so i've been dealing with 200-450 pings lately. it's still playable around 350 (i get PL too).

what everyone else said is right.. distance is the key. use mini or shock primary or sniper to kill him from afar. stay away from walls. if you're playing DM, try to gain height on him.. it's kind of hard to flak up.

does he mainly use primary or secondary flak?

I'm not sure if i can go on newbie servers and own some people, dunno if i'm skillled enought to rank myself higher than a newbie =( His ping is usually low 70's to 130 my ping is usually 125 (if i'm really really lucky) to bout 400. He uses both the primary and secondary. If i'm close he uses primary. If i'm far he uses secondary. Sometimes he uses the secondary and then when i dodge it he starts rushing me with the primary (stole that one from me....grr

If he spams flak primary a lot, stick to high ground and use rockets and shock combos on him. Mini at long range is good as well. Mini probably wont kill them, but it will force them to take another approach.

The minigun works good from longer ranges.

Try not to get close and duck around corners if possible

Always make sure you have armor if it available

Um, I happen to be one of these ping-challenged people, and if this is how I have to get a frag, I will take it, thanks. Although it still doesn't work most of the tme. I rather use the IH in a crowded server. I get a few kills that way.

use the element of surprise. dont even let him see you until youre right in his face and drop some rockets down. A mini up close is also a good solution. Then again if you screw it up youre gonna be real close where he can flak you good

Being parttime flak/miniwhore maybe I can help you...

-Do not get into (very) close combat, that's the easiest target for a flakcannon....
-Do not fight them in narrow halls or something...the bouncing flak will get you....
-I have a hard time fighting in open, especially against the shock and miniwhores (so I will start with the minigun myself).....
-Do not stand still or walk in a straight line, it's real easy to lob a flak grenade to you this way....
-And be careful for spam, if someone starts spamming primary flak to you, you can either find a safe place and attack them with the RL or flakcannon when they come closer,or you can try to kill them immediatly with the sniper,mini or primary shock.....

As a self-proclaimed flak h0, I agree that it's all about the distance. The flak is useless in distance fights unless the person using it is a great shot with the alt-fire.

Being a real flak Whore I know the only ppl you can't get are the ppl who do unpredictable movements, just runing stright backwards is useless getting enuf distance to just snipe em is of course another solution but a flak whore will switch to another weapon if you go long distance and then close in and go back to flak, it's pretty much impossible to keep running backwards while shooting him.

I mainly use secondary since it is often a 1 shot kill and if u just miss they still get a load of splash damage primary is only usefull to get that last 15 health off them or at extremly close range.

Allthough since the flak seems to have quite delay b4it shoots it can actually be a good idea to get real close and circle strafe around them.

He doesn't usually switch weapons once he has the flak. I can usually kill him if he has any other weapon.

Learn to use the flak grenades effectively while strafe circling. It takes practice and skill but it's far more effective than plain flak, particularly if you can get a direct hit (usually a single-shot kill unless enemy is heavily protected) and even a near miss will cause some damage.
