I just downloaded the free version of Microsoft Game Voice. The only thing that this version allows you to do is chat verbally while playing a game. You have to buy the retail package to actually control the game. Since I don't want to control the game by my voice, I figured that this was the best bet (especially since it's free).
Anyway, my questions is does anyone else have this, and if so, what servers do you play on? I am anxious to try this thing out. As I have mentioned numerious times here in PUF, I only play CTF and am positive that whatever team has this would have a huge advantage (unless all of the players on that team suck to high heaven). You can download the freeby at http://www.gamevoice.com. Tack |

My brother and I used to talk over the phone while training with each other. It's amazing how being able to talk while playing can help you work on skills.
Anyway, then we got Game Voice. So far, we haven't used it in a game, oddly enough, but we use it every day to communicate outside of the game since our phone calls cost money (my money). Actually, we did try it a couple times at the beginning, but just couldn't get it to work. You're right, if a team works on their coordination and has discipline and a plan for using GV, it can be a great tool. In fact, it's amazing the major ladders allow it at all .

There are a lot of people who use Roger Wilco, but I don't know if many people have game voice. RW might be your best bet.

Lots of clans use voice communication for coordination during training and matches.
The mosty widely used software is Roger Wilco, but definetly not the best!! BattleCom and TeamSound have much better soundquality and a lot more useful features. Another alternative is Firetalk. All of these programms are shareware/freeware! Edit: Damn, stupid vB is too stupid to display more than one [url] tag correctly. Okay, here are the URLs again:Roger Wilco: http://www.rogerwilco.com BattleCom: http://www.battlecom.com FireTalk: http://www.firetalk.com Team Stream: http://www.teamsound.com

Duh, I forgot to put the url in "". It works fine for one single url, but when you put more than one in one post, it interprets the whole text between the first (url=...) and the last (/url) as the url and fúcks up the link.

If anyone wants to try Game Voice out, let me know when and where and we'll see if we can get it to work.
I'd like to try it beacuse eventually I might join a clan and would like to use it then, or even while freelancing. Tack |

GameVoice Anyone?
Ok, I have a GameVoice and I have nobody to add to Messenger to talk with!!! I need people to join me for some evening UT slaughter sessions! Get the free version, or if you have shelled out the cash for the full one, shoot me an e-mail. I play standard UT, StrikeForce (rocks), Tactical Ops, Infiltration (installing tonight), and basically any other mod. Let's play!

The bad thing about the GV freeware is for every 5 people you want to connect together, at least one of them have to own the retail version. But if you only have less than 5 friends
, you're okay.

I've used Battlecom for a year or so now and I like it, it's easy to use and maintains pretty good quality. I tried Roger Wilco but didn't care for it as much. I don't think firetalk works while in some games, it interfieres with the graphics (particularly the resolution). I tried using Net Meeting as well once and it also interferes. I use Net Meeting almost exclusively outside the game (my girlfriend lives about 2000 miles from me at the moment), but I think Battlecom has the best quality amoung the freebies...but I say that not having tried Game Voice yet.

FYI
They have a UT only version of Game Commander at file planet that does have the voice control and it works damn good. It's free but it's only for UT.

I have the complete Voice Commander set, together with my Girlfriend on our lan, and it works great for us, as if she stands besides me.
We havent tried it online yet tough, cuz it seems we one of the few that has them ![]() But it allows more as controlling the game by voice (what sucks imho) you can speak to induvidial person too, without the other hearing it, or to you'r team only, or to the whole game as well

Most of KS has GameVoice, but we use Roger Wilco in matches because GV is not Mac compatible.
I saw an interesting idea on the GV forums: add a |GV tag after your name so if you see someone online with it, you could use Game Voice on pubs. I haven't done it, but it might be an interesting idea... |

]LoL[ Went thru quite a few different voicecomms, and until recently had spent months dealing with the shortcomings of freeware.
Rogerwilco : crashed UT, frequently disconnected leaving half the team on and half the team unable to get back on Battlecom : people with freestanding mics are very hard to hear, WAnk couldn't get on it because of Uni firewall Firetalk: looked way too much like a "make free calls" type proggie than an actual team voice communication, and hogged cpu The best? Gamevoice. Well worth the $50 to add your entire team on there. Ability to have diff channels works great for clan practise when you want to divide the team into 2, or speak to the whole team after. Voice quality is superb. CPU usage is low. No weird things happen to UT and we've had entire games now with it where it hasn't crashed! Which for us is a godsend, since Roger Wilco has cost us matches in the past from crashing Boom's UT.
