Flak Cannon = No Skill

what i don't understand is if the flak is such a newbie weapon and so easy to kill with, then why don't the l33t players who are whining use it themselves to kick everyone else's butt? maybe the newbie knows how to ues flak better than you do? oh, but all the newbie's doing is running around holding down flak primary. well, if that's the case, then you need to work on your skillz if you're getting beat up that way.

personally i have much more trouble with a good shock whore or a good sniper than a flak whore. maybe i'm no l33t enough to dismantle the really good shock whores, but at least i know how to kill the newbies running around with flak.

Flak, like any other weapon, is just that: a weapon. It is one of several tools you have at your disposal to handle a tactical, or, in the case of CTF, strategical situation.

Flak has its strongpoints. I personally don't consider it my favorite weapon but I will use it when others aren't doing the job.

Flak has its weaknesses. It is very easy to nail yourself full-on in the back if you have intermittent PL attacks. I would also advise against using a lot of Flak primary fire in matches with team damage enabled.

This makes Flak a weapon that can be used precisely, but it can also be spammed. It is both a powerful weapon to use against others, but poses significant risk to your own health and that of your team. The effectiveness of Flak is dependent on what applications are made of it, and how the enemy responds.

Connection problems do play a large part. I have poor framerates in general with UT and a lot of Flak primary flying around the server, especially if there is more than one player using it, can and will inflict dreadfully long pauses and really slow moments. However, I don't have the option of asking everyone involved in an official match not to use Flak because one player experiences problems with it. I must do what I can and use other weapons and tactics to deal with this. I can keep them far away with the sniper rifle. I can hammer away with instant fire rockets or force them to chase me around corners where I can have the Shock combo waiting for them. There are plenty of other options. I can even use the Flak myself, launching grenades from a distance to preclude close in primary fire assaults. Part of the "skills" involved with playing the game deals with how well you can make up for your disadvantages.

Here we go, another person saying what weapon should be used and which one should not be.
Lets make this simple.
All the weapons take skill to use (even the x-loc)
If you dont like the weapon(s) dont play the game.

I have decided that from now on, so I don't ever piss anyone off, I will not use any weapons anymore. None. I will wander the UT levels naked. All I will do is run around (not even xloc'ing, cuz that pisses people off). You think I can't contribute to my team? Well, I can stand in the way of people on the other team. Sure, within a second they'll fire a rocket at my defenseless head and I'll be dead, but that second that I slowed them up might help. I can run in front of people and dance and hump in an effort to distract them (of course if I do that too much I'll undoubtedly be labeled a hump-spammer). I can feign death and pop up unexpectedly, possibly scaring someone into dodging off a tall ledge. The sky's the limit. Ph33r m3!

You could just use the enforcer, I've never heard of anyone complain about that weapon. You could just run around with it and kill as many people as you can before you die. And if you're luck you'll get two then you can really own people.

Dude you are such a whine bag! Boo-Hoo, those flak whores own my life! Boo-Hoo I only fight from distances where no one can see the whites of my eyes. Unless someone is right in your face with that flak cannon, you will usually have a chance to retaliate before it kills you. Even if they did have it on Face, they wouldn't be able to flak you out of the tower where you are perched. If you think about it, you have a better chance of surviving against a flak attack, then against a sniper attack. So quit complaining and try to have a little fun. If someone kills you w/ the Flak, just tell them what I tell them: "Candy coated flak shells, my favorite!"

BTW I don't use the flak as much anymore, I usually rely on Rockets, a Sniper Rifle and my teeth!

But ofcourse, it's also pretty easy to kill yourself with it too. But, you probably don't like it cuz everytime you pick one up, every bot in the vicinity then takes out their miniguns & turns you into swiss cheese. Or maybe you were fighting with the flak cannon & you shot it into a wall & it all bounced back at you, making you suicide once too often. Is that it?

Primary fire can be fired off of walls to take out people if they're chasing you, I've done this on more than one occasion to save my butt.

Alt fire takes a lot of practice to be really good at it, cuz you gotta know how far the grenade will arc.

But, not everyone is gonna like every weapon, but calling expert flak users skill-less isn't very smart. I find that it's quite useful in games of LMS online when I'm lagging badly & it's my second favorite weapon to use online, so
