For your safety (as in, to prevent embarrassment or banning), don't hotlink images from servers which are not under your control or are not an image hosting service. To prevent hotlinking, some servers replace hotlinked images with an embarrassing or shock image, which would often fall under content considered a bannable offense under our forum rules. In a recent example, a hotlinked image showed an image that, if posted purposely, would result in a permaban from the forums (it was goat...).
To be safe, only post images that are hosted (1) from your own server, (2) from your own photo album account, (3) from an image hosting service, or (4) attached to your post. (3) and (4) don't take that much more effort. Get in the habit of spending the few extra seconds to stay safe.
