Literally takes a few minutes to read both articles but it really does inspire pride in being British. Being an Asthmatic I have received a hell of a lot of free health care, free flu vaccinations every year, I had the hearing restored to my left ear for free, I have had a broken arm fixed for free... My sister was in intensive care when she was first born and free health care saved her life.

Don't buy into any bull**** about British health care, it really is the dogs bollocks. Sure it isn't perfect (MRSA scares are not fun), but if I am need medical attention I know it's going to be of a good standard and it's already been paid for via taxation (this is an example of taxation that I can totally get behind, shame my damned road tax still hasn't fixed the potholes in my street).

I have a question to further the discussion: Do you live within your means, is your lifestyle sustainable and stable, and are you generally happy? If so, you are proving my point in one of my previous posts.

I too have asthma, I've been to hospital multiple times with bad attacks, and I've always been treated quickly, they even made me stay overnight a couple of time to make sure I don't get a resurgance. Although getting to sleep isn't easy in the noise of the hospital. I also got my flu jab last week and I was in and out in less than five minutes.

Give me a break. I think the whole drama about the abortion amendment was absolutely laughable. The amendment does absolutely nothing but reaffirm already existing law. It doesn't prevent anybody from having an abortion, just from getting it with federal funds. I think it's funny that people are getting so bent out of shape over a non issue. One of the few places with this bill that Dems played it smart. Probably the only thing more humorous than the Democrat reaction is the Catholic church and some conservatives thinking that they achieved some sort of small victory here.

Well, since we all require fluids and nourishment, we might as well make grocery stores and eateries part of the government in some form. Do they not affect our health?

Edit:/ Sorry if I don't feel that it is MY responsibility to pay for someone else's health care via taxes. If I pay more at the doctor's office because of those who do not have insurance, so be it. That is how a market works. It goes the same in Walmart and any store where I shop. I'm not cold-hearted; I just do not draw the same parallels as some of you when it comes to fire, police and the military on relation to a mandated federally-controlled public health care program.
