Community Bonus Pack 3: Volume 4 Version 2

The Community Bonus Pack 3: Volume 4 has been updated to Version 2 and it's ready for download. The update makes a number of improvements on the existing maps.

Quote:

...you will need those if you want to play on a server that uses the version 2 maps. You can not play on such a server if you're still using v1 maps. Please Note: ALL server admins should install this version - there were a number of exploits and bugs fixed on all maps.

Do I have to uninstall CBP3v4(v1) before installing CBP3v4(v2) or what?

I don't think you necessarily need to since all the maps have a '_v2' attached to their names. But un-installing v1 shouldn't hurt

Cool

Good timing, I'm just finishing up installing some UT3 maps from recent downloads so I'll just install v2 instead of v1.

Sorry, just the zip at the moment. Didn't want to delay the release any more... EXE will be coming if you want to wait for that.

No srsly. Why do you need an installer for something as simple as a couple of maps? All the installer does is selfextracting the zip into the folder you give it anyways. And add a shiny uninstaller.

In case a new version comes out. You can then uninstall it very easily. Any time a process like this is automated it becomes a snap to use. Much more user friendly.

I extracted the maps into a subfolder. So it's easy to uninstall.

Open zip file, create new subfolder in Published\CustomMaps, extract map files to the subfolder.

If there is extra stuff like configs, extract those to \config

That's bout it.

Anybody else having trouble with this file? Damn file has the same md5sum as listed here on this site, but it won't extract with 7zip (data errors and "unsupported compression method"), or the built in "zip folders" in Windows. ("unspecified error")

A corrupted file, apparently.

Code:
 Directory of E:\zzzz\ut3

11/18/2009 04:06 AM <DIR> .
11/18/2009 04:06 AM <DIR> ..
11/18/2009 03:53 AM 608,030,165 cbp3_volume4_v2_zip.zip
11/18/2009 01:33 AM <DIR> ut3maps
               1 File(s) 608,030,165 bytes
               3 Dir(s) 69,135,065,088 bytes free

E:\zzzz\ut3>md5sum cbp3_volume4_v2_zip.zip

Where did you get it from? Maybe the hash is from the corrupted file?

Right, did you get it from filefront?
If so, please try another mirror as for some reason filefront seems to corrupt our files lately

That wouldn't explain why the MD5 sum checks out, unless he scored the one in 2^32 jackpot of getting a hash collision with a damaged file...

Yes, I got it from FileFront (twice, from two different filefront mirrors... I clear browsing data and go back again and it will connect to a different hostname for the download)

I tried all the others but they were too slow at the time. I'll try again tonight when I have more time.

That's what I was thinking, the md5sum may have been generated from the corrupted file. (hash collisions are highly improbable of course)

The reason I was asking was, I was starting to doubt myself because the md5sum matched. I don't have trouble with other (huge... I buy my games from Direct2Drive these days) zip files or other archive types though.

I was also wondering if anyone who did not have problems extracting the archive they downloaded, had checked the md5sum against the value posted on the beyondunreal download page.

At the time, I was also having trouble with UT3 crashing and I was starting to suspect something going wrong locally but that turned out to be Nvidia's Ambient Occlusion control panel setting (which always worked fine before with UT3, but not with the 195.39 drivers with my 9800 GX2 card)
