Gee, really Captain Obvious? Oh I lived in Italy for a third of my life but somehow I would have missed that? I think you sir, are the one without a clue about what I know or don't know. Is it not clear that Obama is talking out of one side of his mouth saying "I'm not a socialist" while doing just about everything he can to abrogate everything from the economy to healthcare to national security. His playbook prescribes to create so much crisis and turmoil that ignorant people will flock to the government for help instead of questioning the policies that created the turmoil. The non-ignorant liberals like Liz who "hate" conservatives have a pretty good understanding of what is going on but are along for the ride at any cost.

and people wonder why Sarah quit (from Huffington Post, who took it down):

..and jokes from the article
Quote:
In Sarah Palin's resignation announcement she complained about the treatment of her son Trig who always teaches her life lessons. She said that the "world needs more Trigs, not fewer." That's a presidential campaign promise we can all get behind. She will be the first politician to actually try to increase the population of retarded people. To me, it's kinda like saying the world needs more cancer patients because they teach us such personal lessons.

Her first act as President: To introduce a Pre-K lunch buffet that includes lead paint chips. Sort of a Large HEAD-START Program.

She will then encourage women to hold off on pregnancies until their 40's just to mix up some chromosomes.

She now is in favor of abortion only in case of diploid birth.

Her policies will increase jobs because Wal-Mart is building new stores each day and someone has to be the greeter.

This will lead to smaller government because fewer Americans will have the cognitive ability to hold a government job

Ok, which part wasn't true? So you think Sarah Palin is fascist? You said you hate conservatives and everything they stand for, or is it just certain ones? I thought hating was a crime now.

I guess your first problem is thinking we've ever been anywhere near particularly fascist as a nation. Adopting fascist policies is no different than adopting socialist policies (and, in some cases, they are the same thing)

Now this is just silly. Obama doesn't have squat locked in. He's only been president for a few months. He has a whole 4 years to screw this up.

I think people make this claim because everyone has done a good job (myself included) of deluding ourselves into thinking this economic crisis was done and over with. We've been told job losses is bottoming, and that the stock market will recover by year's end.

Well I'm predicting a huge reality check. Starting tomorrow the SPX will begin a 2-3 week march down to 830, and if it's as bad as I think we'll retest the early March lows. All you will hear in the next month is how the stimulus package hasn't worked, the disaster with auto makers, and how badly cap and trade is hurting the economy. Unemployment will continue to rise past 10%.

I don't have a crystal ball, and I don't know what the economy will be like in a year. All I can do is look at technical indicators in the stock market, and they are not good. There's a good chance I'll be wrong, and there's always a lot of skepticism and "WTF do you know?" when people make claims like this. So all I can say is watch closely tomorrow. Then we can come back in a month, and we'll see if you've changed your minds about anything.

George Bush royally screwed up America in his first term and still won his second, proving that being a good president isn't a requirement to actually becoming president at all.

I would be incredibly surprised if Obama doesn't get a second term.

There just aren't enough fools anymore who believe that the right wing is doing anything good for anyone now. A lot of those people are going to the left, mostly because they are just lemmings but also because of politicans like Palin. People like Sir_Brizz who are in the super far religious right are quickly becoming the minority, and thankfully their opinions are overshadowed by people with actual intelligence or just people that are finally waking up and realizing the republicans offer nothing positive for America. I think Obama winning has a lot do with that.

It is a fairly safe assumption based on the alleged political climate according to CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, shall I continue? In all seriousness, do you think that the GOP has anyone who is electable over Obama?

I'm not deluded. I'm just sitting back and watching the show.

But I thought "Cap'n Trade" will be our second savior.

And Obama supporters will still be claiming victory and anti-conservatives will still be claiming that the GOP is dead.

I just wanted to highlight your quote here to point out how very wrong you are.

You have two sides here. One of which is very good at selling you "the cake", while never actually delivering the cake. The other is horrible at selling you the cake because they require that you pay for it in advance. Mind you, neither is very good at making the cake and the cake is always very expensive.

Alternately, you could make your own cake.

I wouldn't say that turning around a failing economy and entering America into 7 years of widespread prosperity was a failure. How we came to that prosperity is a different beast altogether and has been mounting for the better part of the last half-century.

I won't claim he didn't make any mistakes, but, frankly, look at his competition in 2000 and 2004. Are you REALLY surprised?

Oh yes good one, prove you know my political leanings by insulting my intelligence! Seems to work for the Democratic Party so why not for wacky "neo-libs"!

I think you'd have a hard time proving that the conservative right has nothing to offer America. Obama got elected for a lot of reasons, and I'd say that the very bottom of that list would be "people waking up that liberalism is The One True Way(tm) and that all other political viewpoints are old and outdated". Sorry, but I would be MORE afraid to live in America if there was only one political party and no opposing views were heard, discussed or even allowed. We have a word for that, you know

Two things.

1. See the little winky guy in my post. That means I was joking.

2. I said I hate some attributes of far right republicans and conservatives.

All the poll answers are jokes, or close approximations there of.

Missing poll option: She is going to build an observatory to spy on Russia... or something. There has to be a poll option on Russia.

I can personally agree with your point about democratic candidates. Al Gore and John Kerry certainly weren't appealing to me.

And to be nitpicky: I don't think Bush led us into 7 years of widespread prosperity - it was probably more like 5 or 6.

Ah, yeah. I was thinking 2002-2009, but you're right, it's more like 2002-2008.
