using meshes textures from UT3Ed in GoW Ed
I have GoW and am creating a mod for it and am wondering if it is possible to use the static mesh and texture packages from UT3 to make a GoW map? UT3 has far more variety of styles and colours of objects etc so i was hoping to incorporate them.

There should be a way to do it but the scale would be way off as gow is almost twice the size in scale.
There is also the problem of using that assets in a game that they didn't buy. As this would be breaking the user end agreement thus breaking that law, they could come after ya. |

hi thanks for the reply. what do you mean when you say there will be a problem with using assets in the game that weren't purchased? If you have bought both games and the editors are pretty much the same, with same package extensions etc shouldn't you be able to use them freely?

No, because GOW might be owned by MS, etc. Whole legal story about copyright.
The extensions are the same but packages are saved differently to prevent Unreal Engine games from opening each others packages, or you could open all the games out there in your UT3 ed.... You can export the meshes, but even so, you still need both the textures and the materials, and possibly the collisions. That is a lot of very difficult stuff to do. Basically, stop trying. |

You could learn to make your own meshes, textures, materials etc... Blender, GIMP are both free and have a lot of tutorials on the web for free as well.
