(February 8, 2008) iD Tech Camps announces their new limited-edition course, partnering with Johnathan “Fatal1ty™” Wendel. Fatal1ty, the world’s best known professional gamer, is collaborating on curriculum development for this exclusive summer camp course. The announcement of this partnership is the very first in the summer computer camp industry. Teen gamers attending Camp Fatal1ty™ will learn advanced Unreal Tournament® 3 skills from athletes at the top of this sport, like world-renowned professional gamers and members of the Free Player Organization.

Dedicated gamers will be introduced to a variety of Unreal Tournament 3 tactics and strategies developed by Fatal1ty and other professional gamers, which have been honed in international competitions. Teen academy students will test their new battle skills against students in tournament play. They’ll also learn to create machinima and build highlight video reels of their best in-game moves and shots.

“We want to partner with the best! We chose the iD Gaming Academy”, said Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel, the world’s best known pro gamer.
Fatal1ty is hands down the most accomplished, professional gamer in history and is the breakthrough name and face of what has become a large scale, legitimate sport. As the world’s most famous gamer, he spreads enthusiasm wherever he goes and, in the process, has become the sport’s worldwide ambassador. Like any other professional athlete, he trains for hours a day and analyzes his performances by watching videos of himself in action–all with the goal of being the best in the world.

Fatal1ty is a naturally gifted athlete who competed in many sports including tennis, golf and football before devoting his full time efforts to gaming. He continues to use daily physical training to maintain and hone his genetic gifts of quick reflexes and lightning fast hand/eye coordination.
“We are excited and honored to partner with Johnathan on this new initiative. With this new collaborative offering, we continue to provide cutting-edge instruction to our teen gaming students. Professional gaming is a fast growing profession”, said Pete Ingram Cauchi, president and CEO of iD Tech Camps. “We want to give them the opportunity to make their dreams possible.”

Dedicated gamers will be introduced to tactics and strategies developed by Fatal1ty and other professional gamers, all with international competitions under their belts.

“The cutting-edge iD curriculum, Play the Fatal1ty Way™ was co-developed by iD Tech Camps and Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel and is exclusively used as part of our program”, noted Steve Gould, President and CEO of Auravision.

Getting desperate I see.

I can't understand why ANYONE in their right ****ing mind would join up for this. It's like scientology.

Then again, if I could scam people, charge outrages prices to stick my name on crap, and make millions by doing so.... I'd whore myself out too.

lol one of my friend's won a Fatal1ty branded "gaming mouse" at his work (circuit schitty) and it was the goofiest looking thing ever. It was awkwardly shaped and broke after a year and half of use. I think they retailed for over 40 bucks at the store.

Getting desperate? How is this desperation? It's just a guy that knows how to game shwing off a few strategies.

"Camp Fatal1ty"?? I'm sorry, this is beyond ridiculous.

Someone - "Hey erm Fatal1ty sir, how do we find a good place to camp and pick off targets ?"
Fatal1ty - "Camp ? Did I hear someone say camp ?! Get out of here boyo ! Campin is for noobs !"
Someone else - "This is called Fatal1ty camp isn't it ?"
Fatal1ty - "Yeah well er humm ... I didn't choose that name and the sponsors decided it that way. It will have to do ... Now back to some more manly tactics !"

Fat's tactics are generally hanging back and playing like a gimped vagina. He strikes when someone else makes a mistake rather than being aggressive and doing something interesting. I mean, he played all defensive and snooze-like in Q3 of all games. And let's not forget that he was never as good as the real UT pros like Lauke. :p

However, Fat's name is a buzzword, so I'll be checking to see if UT3's online player counts for the US make it above 350 because of this. :)

yeah, there's fatal1ty hardware out there that i wouldn't choose to build a computer for my grandmother. and quite honestly - i think he wouldn't choose it for his grandma, either.
but still, 'fatal1ty' on a crappy card seems to sell pretty well...

We need any propagation and Fat isn't that bad for this. We need it. I wanted to play today (early Sunday afternoon here) and on the first page of server lists I saw ZERO players for CTF and TDM. War showed all zeroes as well + one 24/24 server.

We need any possible propagation if we want to play this game. :-(

Hmmz, welp checked the stats for UT3... Wheres this dudes name? In the top 100?

Makes you wonder if he's even qualified for this teaching position

*sigh* just what we need hundreds more mortal kombat fans... no wait,
people who copy moves and develop no original strategies of play for themselves. This is free hey? Cant believe people would pay for this crap.

I don't think stats show really everything. I think his mindset beats most of those above him in stats. Although I'd not argue about him being the best really - I like Lauke's style more - especially for watching (for reasons T2A said). :) But however profaned Fat might be I bet he still has something to say - at least in the strategy/tactic field.

i think you're right. that might actually help UT3. i mean, i guess there's a lot of kids going 'WHOA! fat is playing UT3!? can't be that bad a game then!'
and they might even pick it up. even more so considering it has already seen the first price drop around here [but that's the german version, and i can't imagine a whole lot of people actually bought that, anyway (bad localization and so on). so that might just be to get rid off all the copies they have in the stores]

I remember reading guides back in the quake 1/2 days which explained movement and stuff, there was dodgepromod as well which explained some stuff around 2k4. Knowledge of the game and maps obviously has alot to do with how one can perform.

I guess along side the other skills like aim, prediction and general strategies and counters that about makes a really good player. Maybe Im wrong but hey I think he makes enough money to perhaps lend out some free advice.

I do agree about stats as well, I really need to start colouring my posts to my mood so people dont mistake humour for a serious post :p I must admit I have actually sat down and watched some higher level matches and even spec ingame. I do believe UT is just as much as spectator sport as others (just without the cheerleaders ) so there is something to be said for style. I'll agree with you and say I prefer other peoples style over his.

Im just wondering if we want to attract people who will only play a game when endorsed by pro gamers, I mean cant people make up their own minds, which kinda goes to what I was saying about originality in strategy!
