How do I make my models head fly off...

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

How do I make my models head fly off when it gets shot in the head? I'm making a model for UTGOTY and I've been looking everywhere I can trying to find information on how to make a headshot happen. Like right now when I get a headshot (announcer says "head shot", bot dies) they just fall down, the head doesnt fly off. Is there some special code to make this happen? If so could someone please tell me thanks. Also how do I make the body armor reflective, shiny?

why are you telling them to contact me.....

Basically, in standard UT, the "heads fly off" animation is done by vertex squishing the head to a very small size into the neck. You can't do this on UT psk models.

UT2k3/4 cheats this by automatically welding and breaking the dismembered parts at their joints.

Could someoneforward me the informatio? Another question is possible? is there also a Tutorial on how to make armour reflective? To have the sheen gloss look to it? Thank you in advance.

Hm, I'd have to say try Google and use the key subject words of , Armor, Headshot, bot, UT, Unreal and see what you come up with 1st, if you are indeed having more issues than expected I'm sure there are people you might use the PM system here or elsewhere to help with your thirst for knowledge. I hope this helps.

In UT it is made via code - a special actor which has a look of damaged head is spaned at the location of the head with velocity defined on the direction of the shot.

There used to be a headrolling'off function for UT2004, but last I checked Unreal Developer Network, the feature was broken in one of the later patches. You just have to hit the joints on the body now. :( If you're trying to do a scripted sequence or matinee, set a "SetViewTarget" and point to a marker in the direction of your target model's head to increase the chances of succeeding a headshot.

Good luck.
