HoopWorld Interview
TeamXbox has posted an interview with one of the developers working on HoopWorld, with Streamline Studios (you may remember them from doing some work on Onslaught).
Can you explain how the combo system works? Is it simple to learn? Alexander L. Fernandez: It’s a pretty easy, pick up and play game. The HoopWorld combo system is based on movement either as an individual or as a team. It’s not far off Tony Hawks’. You earn points for the actual skill and endurance of a move (bigger wall runs are worth more points, longer shots are worth more than small ones etc.), and you earn multipliers every time the ball changes hands. Our approach has always been that it’s got to be easy enough to pickup as well as when more advanced players take on novice users. Realistically, it’s possible to play the game with just three buttons. At the same time, it’s one of those games which oozes depth once you get into the more advanced moves, like counters, team boosts and so on. You can read the rest of the article here.
