Hello all. noob here.
I'm sorry if an idea or "wish list" similar to this hs been previously posted, but i did have a bit of a look around.
Ok my 'idea' goes like this; how about making the player feel like they're acually playing in a futuristic tournament, instead of just playing a video game?
To clarify this; In Deus Ex (while UT will never have the same style of gameplay) I feel like i'm JCDenton, uncovering conspiracies and whatnot.
In UT2004, i feel like im playing a videogame.
The obvious rebuttle to this is; UT is'nt MEANT to have a great storyline, plot twists, ETC. But, it's not the big things that need to change, it's the little things. Like when a game ends, you're confronted with a big box that says "YOU WON!!" or lost or whatever. how about this, you're still in the map, a buzzer goes off, and all of your weapons are locked. You and your team will make their way back to a section of the map which becomes available (such as a previously closed door, or in larger maps, a vehicle rolls in such as a big truck or manta- type thing) and the match results will be diplayed on an in-game screen. And, thanks to the new super chatty A.I, they will either cheer if they win, or moan and bitch if they lose, throw things at the screen (gorge?). When you're walking back to you're 'base', members of the opposite team would bump into you if they got close enough, or yell stuff at you like "I'll get you next time, you arse!". This feature would obviously aimed at single-play (offline where Epic is suposedly focusing more on then previous UT titles), but could be also incorperated into online play.
A few little features such as this could really help with the immersion in the game. I'd like to hear anymore ideas regarding this.
Cheers!
