Hello,

Well, I'm new in this forum.
I've been playing the FHI Mod and it's fun. That feeling of "defend the base!!" or "Hold it ffs!!" is something i like a lot.

I am making a map for the FragHouse Invasion Mod. It's just a simple map i did this weekend. I wanted to release it today but after playing it several times, i think there's still much room for improvement.

Anyway, just wanted to post some pictures :) I assume I will get the final version in a few days... dunno for sure when ... perhaps the next weekend ;)

Oh and BTW, I have e-mailed this guy called Parser. Parser, please, could you answer me? I do know my e-mail can sound very strange, even could upset someone, but i am really expecting some kind of answer. I've tried both e-mails adresses as i don't know wich is your current one. Thx. :)

Cool, more maps, Parser should reply soon i expect so no worries, he can be a busy chap.

It certianly looks like FHI has cought the attention of many UT2004 Players. Dont think you gat as many Fans for a mod making content for it. Sure there is plenty for normal UT2k4, but for a mod, this is great, just shows how a simple idea can be the best :)

I personally have not played GHI for some time, working the CP and busy with other things. But as soon as this CP is out and I have grabbed some of the other maps floating about, im certianly going to enjoy a few weeks of fragging bad dudes with buddies.

Actually, i think most of the CP team should get togather, maybe even some of the FH team and all join ina nice server fpr some major fragging fun, if only actually played with Dark_Dust once in FHI ages ago, been working on this CP for months, be cool, if ppl are up for it :)

Hmm, I've played a map that looks a bit like this one.
It was on LightBringers server, and the hallway in the first screen is similar to it.
That one had a huge, long, Spanish(or Italian, or whatever. I don't know anything about southern languages) name.

I've read your answer Parser :) No problem in translating it.
Thanks for your kind ... "permission". The FHI team developed the core of the idea with this Mod, so thought i had to ask first.

I have some ideas in my head... I don't know what I will do .... so at the moment i'm just thinking possibilities... I will use this map I've mentioned as a "test" in the 1st release.
Be sure that I will post here and tell you by e-mail what i finally decide to do.


But ... ssshhhh it still a secret at the moment :lock: lol.

That's true. This map you mention, it's the first thing i did with the FHI Mod. I did it in one afternoon so it's just the usual crappy-n00bish work. I just did it for having some fun trying that Mod :)

The amazing thing is that : I have the map in my hard drive. And the only person who has it also is a friend who also have it in his hard drive. We played twice on Internet creating a server just for the two of us.... I wonder how anyone has the map also.... they picked up when they tried to join the server?.... i dunno, but it has really surprised me.

And yes, that's Spanish BTW. The name means "Done in an afternoon".

EDIT : Please, if you see the file, delete it, exterminate that "testing" level. ;)

That wasn't on LB's server (like I thought it was)
Someone gave it to me, he must've downloaded it from your internet game then.
He does that sort of this all the time so don't be surprised.
Only the both of us got it, so don't worry about it being spread further ;)

Heh..next time you're having a 'test' online, password your server so no-one else except your friend can download the map and play. ;)

I don't know if you've heard about the community pack we are working on for some time, but if not, be sure to check out our site. :)

Oh well...

Oh well.... don't get too excited with my little project. It's not I want to keep it in a so secret way, just that I won't tell nothing explicit as at the moment it's just something in my brain and i don't know how will it end. As the FHI web site says, I also map for fun, when i have time. :)


I love this "defend the base" attitude. That's why I became interested in the FHI Mod. My project will be quite similar to the FHI Mod. It has the same "central" idea in fact, but it will be WAY MORE simplistic than the FHI Mod.

I don't pretend to create a "Mod", i just pretend to create my little modification of the Invasion Mode, and attaching this modification to a map or two. But this modification will have the same "initial" idea : to prevent the monsters of penetrating a base, a castle, or whatever... but in a more simplistic way.


However, as the founders of the FHI Mod had the idea first of making this kind of "invasion" mode, where the monsters respawn in desired locations, I feel i had to ask first. That's why i e-mailed Parser, he is a Mapper, coder and co-founder, and he said me -very kindly- to go ahead.


As i said, no explicit things, still i have to clear my ideas first. But as I say, it will be just a .zip file with one map and the /System files needed.
(Hey i could map more if the people like the idea. :D )

I guess this is the perfect way to learn coding mods! And parser is a hot sexy man, im sure he can help you alot on your "quest" :D
..you might find it easier to talk on "our" irc channel instead of emailing and pm'ing eachother. But that's not up to me. :)

Hey, I looked at the screens - looks pretty cool. I do have a question however, how do you get that slightly shimmery effect around the lights? I've tried several different properties and can't seem to get it to work.

The coronas?? ..... it's the only effect i've put on the lights so i assume it's the coronas. Just select a texture (i.e. EmitterTextures.Flares) and add them to any light actor with the 'Display --> Skin' propertie. :)

Oh, ok - because I checked the robotfactory map and saw it was coronas, and then I set them to true and nothing happened - thanks for the help!
