Tribes loving Ho's. Nice looking forum but the moderators like to post on the UT forum that UT is boring...blah blah. Seems like they're trying to drum up a little controversy to up their membership count. http://www.gamebb.com/ubb/Forum44/HTML/000002.html
...worth a look, but I feel bad even giving them this publicity, as they're simply fishing for it.

Don't go, I read the five or six posts they have on UT. The most knowledgable guy there basically said that he uninstalled the game because he got bored after beating the robots. Absurd, he probably never even went online. I actually wasted my time responding (UT rocks, I just couldn't let it go). I hope that my heros at PlanetUnreal figure out that they've been duped and drop the link to this BB nonsense.

Those were my thoughts too, Boom. Thanks QAPete for the "heads up" on the spiffy new forum. To me, the site and the staff set the tone for a forum...and I prefer this one (PUF) by a loooong shot, thanks!

I nosed around on the Tribes section of UBB and found that there was one whole thread by the admins of the site, challenging each other to get new people to sign up. Maybe that was their way of "creating interest".

I think I'm on the same page as Hal here. Nothing against those BB guys, I hope my earlier reply doesn't read too harsh. Maybe if I had more of a life outside of UT, I wouldn't feel such a need to rush to its defense. (life outside of UT... scary thought). I kinda realized that the BB guys were just trying to rile things up, and it certainly wasn't offensive. But like Hal says, it just didn't sit right, hearing UT dissed by guys who never really explored it. Anyway, I appreciate B9's comments here, he's obviously a good guy and I want to make it clear that I am not trashing the BB site, I just think this Forum is the place to be talking about UT.

Hm. I don't quite know what to say. I appreciate you understanding the situation, but I cannot convince you to give GameBB a second chance even if it is against your will.

I do know that I want to say that I hope this clears the situation up between the person(s) who viewed GameBB as sort of anti-UT, and welcome you to GameBB at any time. However, like stated earlier, I cannot convince you against your own will, but I am again extending the invitation out to all UT players to give GameBB a shot.

You didn't know how much this frustrated me within the first 10 days of GameBB opening to see a message like this, and I only hoped to better matters.

Thanks again.

Hm. This is B9, the admin over at GameBB. Sorry that you feel this way, but we were merely stating our opinions in that forum to, you guessed it, spark some messages.

None of the GameBB staff is really familliar with UT, most of us have played it, but not as much as we play other games.

The fact is that GameBB was creating by Tribes players, and Q3A players, but also wanted to create forums to satisfy other gamers out there. Once again, sorry if you took the message at first as a mere diss on UT, but they were not meant to be.

Thanks.

Well. That clears it up. Might go over there now, if I find a slot in my tight web surfing schedule

Sorry, I know you were just trying to drum up some business but your admins set the tone for the forum and to fill the brand spankin' new UT forum with drivel like :

I got the game and about a week later put it away for good seeing as it got boring as hell very fast. The only thing that was fun was trieing to win on "God-Like". DAMN THAT BLAKE! I got up on him 9-5 (first to 10) and he killed me. Every time I spawned he was all over me like white on rice. I vow one day to get him back.

only to find out:

When I said that nobody plays it anymore I meant my friends don't play it anymore. (Real life friends, wait, did I say I had friends?) Anyway, if I am going to play a game I usually play with them and kind of just go with the flow. They have moved on to other games and I have kind of followed. As for not liking the CTF, no I have not played other ones than the regular ones, and I don't know if I have played all them.

...then how do you hope to attract people that really like the game? At least have your admins make some intelligent or researched comments.

I really do appreciate your supporting the UT community and maybe I've been too harsh but it just doesn't sit well.

Thanks

Thanks for understanding. I took care of the situation yesterday, it won't be happening again.

I hope to have flourishing UT forums, but some people have got a bad impression of GameBB off the start.

Please understand that we were only trying to create discussion, not offend anyone.

Let me just say that you, B9, were very reasoned in your postings at UBB. You seem to be very interested in running a quality Bulletin Board for a wide variety of popular games. It looks like a first quality site.

Thank you for being as reasonable here when I took it upon myself to let the PUF regulars know what kind of atmosphere was being created by one of the forum moderators at a web site being reported on by QAPete, here at PU.

I can't even imagine what people would say here if Stallion, Alien8, QAPete or Yellow5 poked their administrative heads in here and said that, "UT was boring and they hated it's CTF game. Oh, and by the way... I didn't actually play ALL of the maps or ANY of the user made levels. Everyone I know have removed it from their hard drives".

I can't eveb imagine the reaction the regulars here would have!

Again, I hope I haven't come across too negatively. You have been very gracious in your replies and I hope that sort of attitude is similar to what we could expect from the GBB moderators. Thanks for responding.

Ok. Good. I hope to have restored some respect for GameBB, as we were not trying to put a damper on the UT community, just merely start conversation.

You have all been very reasonable in replying to me, and I wish you all the best.

(ok, time to pitch GameBB.. )

Incase noone was informed, GameBB will gladly host any private forum for any clan of any game. Just send a mail to b9@gamebb.com including the clan name, the clan game, password, and who the clan wishes to be the moderator of the forum.

Thanks, and I hope to see everyone again.

Poor B9... I really do feel sorry for him. Maybe I should visit that GamesBB as a charitable act?

I would like to offer a short apology and hope one day that I may re-gain your respect. Please do not hold GameBB responsible for the posts I have made. For my full apology, here is the link:

Once again to all of you UT players, I am sorry for offending you.
