As Eric Cartman usually says....

"SCREW YOU...GODAMN HIPPIES!"

I say the same to those that oppose games and all they stand for....

Anyone else notice that link to their forums was broken? Did they delete valid arguments against them or something?

The Daily Mail has now shut down the "Evil Videogames" thread on their board for "Administrative Review".

Guess the truth became too much of a violation of their rules for the DM!

I believe that the original UT was a hell of a lot more violent then ut2k4. I mean you could gib people on the ground, after they died, and they seemed to gib alot easier (a normal rocket attack would do the the trick). Now it seems like only overkills will cause the gibbing deaths, not to mention there is no more ripper, which would be prone to decapition most of the time. Not only that, but now there are no dead bodies littered all over the ground and you get more of a sense that "they really didn't die" when their old body goes into the heavens in a cloud of green as they respawn. In my opinion the deaths have been tuned down compared to the old school UT. So I really don't see the problem with normal ut2k4's DM, DD, CTF, most likely people just get hit and get thrown to the ground when they die.

Also I don't see the problem with Doom 3, you are a person trying to stop hell from destroying everything, not the other way around...

I might kill to get my hands on the Special Edition but that's just me

Seriously though the crap that the tabloids write comes as no surprise to me. I don't even read them anymore cause they've given themselves free reign to write what they want about what they want and the bottom line - they're only out to make money. If I bashed someone over the head with the newspaper is the newspaper at fault? Hell, if they ban 2k4 it'll sell twice as much!

Seeing how widely played UT2004 is and how there isn't even a handful of people who it's inspired to become murderers, it doesn't take a moron to draw out the fact that the whole incident may be a coincidence that an evil kid likes the game, or omg, I can't believe it, myabe violent children could be drawn TO the violent video games as well?! WTF?! Insane!!

what a bunch of ignorant morons. they blame games simply as a scapegoat. if parents don't want their kids to play whatever game, they simple don't let their kid play it. i hate how people whine to the government to babysit their children so they don't have to. the government should stay OUT of people's lives. we're not a ****ing herd to be dominated.

I'm going to have my 2 cents:

Papers are purely designed to sell and make money, they do not care about their readers, they simply want filler type articles to continue with the crap journalism they spout day in-day out.

When will these people wake up and realise they are simply blaming the latest medium, before graphic video games there was graphic vhs movies, before that there was graphic novels and so on.

Oh and BTW daily mail film review of the Matrix was quoted as:
Forget about this lads, stick to the nintendo!

Papers suck - I never buy them - watch the news on TV; it's more accurate.

Books, music, television...
Rock and Rock'n'Roll for example weren't liked at all when they appeared and teenagers started to dress in jeans and grew their hair

It's a fact that amok runs for example also existed back then. But the media didn't exist. Today every incident is hyped up beyond proportion and every idiot can comment.

However it's easy to say to ignore them. But unfortunately there are politicians who are either morons themselves or listen to morons. After the Erfurt massacre - where someone killed 16 or 18 people which was blamed on games inititally - even previously well-researched newpapers like the FAZ published ignorant and hatemongering articles. Fortunately they caught a lot of flak for it and immediately had to print a counter report to apologize.
The censorship laws were still made stricter because of nothing

I love a quote from one letter sent to a member of parliament and read officially there:
"After all games are banned, all LAN parties forbidden and all computers disconnected from the internet, you will notice that you still need to raise us"
