Don't mind if I do....

Greetings, oh Mac-user!!!

Yes, most (I think all) mods are Mac-compatible. Maps unzip with Stuffit Expander into ".unr" documents that you just drop into the map folder. Mods can be installed using the UMOD installer found on your CD. Drag and drop unzipped "UMOD" documents onto the UMOD installer and it takes care of the rest. With the maps, don't put the Readme files (.txt) in the map folder...they become dead ends when you try to launch them mistakenly as a map in-game. And don't forget to put texture and sound files into their respective folders, either.

What you don't have is any editing capability. I'm working on a Virtual PC solution to that, yet, there's no UnrealEd for the Mac and no plans to make one.

Incidentally, here are some good links to find what you need: (Mac-specific info) (many Maps, in packs, for bulk downloading...has mods as well) (maps database, includes reviews)

...not to mention the various mods links from the homepage of PlanetUnreal.

There is also a Mac-specific clan in the clans section of I'd try to join, but I'm recently clanned elsewhere myself....

Lastly, the Roger Wilco in-game communications program has an "alpha" available on their website, Note that you need a mac-specific microphone to make it work...and it still has some quality issues because it's only the alpha. You can use a Plaintalk microphone or you can get a Mac headset, cited on the RogerWilco Mac support page.

Glad to help with anything else....

Does anyone know if the levels, mods, and mutators available for Unreal tournament are also compatible for the mac version of UT? If they aren't, then is there any place that does have mac UT files?

I was under the impression that mods worked for macs as well.

Perhaps not. (given file extension differences).

Ahh well, Das Fragmeister would know. He seems to be our resident Mac guy.
