Skinning/Modelling Tutorials for UT2k4

I was wondering where I could find some good tutorials on how to model and skin for UT2k4. I've seen Identity Crisis and I'm slowly reading through that, but most of the stuff on there is for UT99 and there's a bit on UT2k3. Is this all there is? Do I have to take it from there?

At the moment , yes.
But there are many great "general" tutorials like realistic blood effects .
They are not only for UT .

For modelling take a look at Polycount .

Also look through the skinning threads here, there's a lot of pretty useful information there like how to do team colours, etc... I'd have written one for the beginners but I've only used upaint to see the models (not to skin) and we're all constantly learning

Good news is that someone will do it

As for modelling tutorials, there's a load available for 3dsmax but most have gone right over my head (needs patience and time)

What's the best way to get a UT2k4 model into 3D Studio Max then? I've been trying to find info on this but haven't stumbled across anything yet

As far as I know you can only work with the character rigs and skeletons released by Epic (they're for 3dstudio), not the actual model in the game. If you do a search on FileWorks I'm sure you'll find them there

Excellent. Found a file that has these in it:

Bonus_Nightmare.max
HellionFemale_Rae.max
HellionMale_Garrett.max
Hellion_Kane.max
HellonsFemale_Gitty.max
MercFemale_Glynn.max
MercFemale__Mia.max
MercMale_Jacob_Model.max
Merc_Male_Dreads.max
Ophelia_rig.max
skaarj2_Model.max
skaarj3_Model.max
Skaarj4_Model.max
Skaarj_Model.max
Skaarj_rig.max
Skaarj_Skeleton.max
XanF1.max
XanF2.max
XanM2.max
XanMk3.max

only problem is I'm looking for Merc Male Brock. Can't you somehow convert the PSK file to a format readable by 3d studio max?

What you're looking for if it's brock is the 2k3 rigs and animations (although the animations are diff in 2k4 (vehicle driving)) I'd say your best bet is to post the question in the main modelling and skinning forums on BeyondUnreal

As a matter of fact I did although through a different context .

I downloaded the UT2k3 rigs last night as well. I noticed that MercMaleA is exactly the same as MercMaleC (Brock) except for the head (so you can have the Grease-like hair). So if I were to use the MercMaleA.max file, do my thing with 3d studio export to PSK and use the existing PSA, wouldn't that work ok?
