Dont install Epics new patch

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

I have found that if you install the new Epic patch it will crash UnWheel clients in multiplayer. :(

patches are all the way up to 3236

I can't play UnWheel online, however.

Anyone have any Ideas why?

I select a car then it spawns me as a person on foot and all the cars are invisible

The answer you are looking for is in the readme on the home page http://unwheel.beyondunreal.com/readme/index.html

If you plan on running an UnWheel server for other players to join (LAN or Internet), you will need to make a small addition to your server's main INI file (usually UT2004.ini):
[Engine.GameEngine]
ServerPackages=UnWheel
ServerPackages=UnWheelVehicles

When we make the mod a .ut4mod it'll do that sorta thing for you on installation

Patchlevel successes

With what patches _did_ ppl have succes in running and actually driving on a non-local server (linux preferably).
3204 up to 3236 all work over here (the game itself, vehicles spawn) but driving is not possbiel after being spwaned. It's a real shame for a great mod like this :'(

I'm just catching up on old posts...

Please don't make it a ut4mod file. I have a VB script for my mutators that does a better job than ut4mod.

I could go in to the advantages and disadvantages of ut4mod files, but it is personal preference. However the main one is that many server admins and all Linux users need to install from the raw files. Just distribute as a zip with the files in the right folders. If you get a moment have a look at my installer script SetupMod.vbs. All it does is copies the files and edits the UT2004.ini to add the package name for you. It even reads the registry to find the install location, which is better than most ut4mod installs.

OK, it does mean a two stage install, 1. Uncompress, 2. run SetupMod, but you only need to do one distribution, not two, and the file is smaller.

Maybe multiple types of instal files. zip format narcs me off as it dont seem to make the mod's own .ini
As an 'end-user' umods are just practical as it's a hasle free way of installing stuff... and makes the un-instal super easy.

Yes that's correct.

I have made the same mutator for the normal UT2004 vehicles and I will do the same for UnWheel, because I am not completely happy with the current built in version. Its good, but I prefer a little more play, so the camera does not bounce quite so much.

I've been keeping an eye on UnWheel, but the UT2004 version does not run as well as the UT2003 one did.

Lots of stuck vehicles in walls, which I think is a fault of Epic, but also I keep starting the Rally and Roamer matches on top of other vehicles, which is very frustrating. (EDIT: my mistake you need to use UnWheelUser.ini)

I'm looking forward to the next Beta.

Regards
