Upaint help

Right does anyone know how to set Upaint up so that when you modify a image you also see it updated on the model without having to do a new import each time?

Just its really slowing down how long its taking me to make my first 2004 skin.

I replied to this in your other thread - Not possible to the best of my knowledge. Why don't you save your image... Move forward about five steps then import it... Then if you're happy move on from there, if you're not just revert to the last bit you liked When you get used to it and realise the parts you're painting then you'll hardly use Upaint at all - I know I don't anymore. Or, in Upaint use the eraser or a brush to paint over different areas on the image (without saving!) and see where the parts are on the body. Then goto your image editing s/w and go from there. You can always do any touch ups in Upaint later if you make a mistake. Dunno if that's any use to ya

Or another way to do it is have Upaint open with say step 1 of your skin and your image editor open with the same image. Now use the eraser or paint over a section on the body in Upaint (don't save it). See where that area is on the left image (body) and draw over it in the Image ed. Save the image at regular intervals (mayb with a backup) but don't import it at all 'til it's nearly finished. I've done it this way ok and only imported it when I wanted to have a look now and again

Your image editor is important because you could define body parts as layers for use with the same model (e.g. define an area as a knee pad and call the layer knee pad)... You could keep all these separate layers for use on your next skin using the same model without having to use Upaint at all. I could probably bang out a 'decent' skin every half hour because I stuck with the one model at first and have all that bit done starting off. Phew!

Er yeah and you just tripple posted lol

Tips arent really needed im off to pressure the makers for a add on lol or atleast a new build they have so many suggestions at the forums but i think they have given up.

Would of been cool of them to include some function from other skinning progs, such as integration into photoshop

Thanks but I don't think I'm qualified enuff to actually write a tutorial - Only at this since December and there are tutorials out there I'm still learning myself e.g., I don't know what masks are or alpha channels and generally I just muddle my way through. However, here's a few links to all that you'll need

http://planetunreal.com/identitycris...skinning.shtml
or http://sv2.3dbuzz.com/vbforum/uunr_howto.php?c=5 <- That's where all the video tutorials (and more) are that are in the UT2004 SE DVD. Hope that's good enough for ya - Call me a lazy sod
