Post Stupid things People Sue over...[2]

"Origionaly posted in the Nalicity Forums. I had to change somethings because I posted it on the same day I herd this. Some things were removed and edited."

I heard of the McDonalds hot coffee lawsuit.
And the person who sewed his church after hurricane Hugo destroyed his house and was called an act of GOD by newscasters. And he won!!!!

But the most recent I heard was not long ago. But is old.

I was talking to a card dealer at the flea market. We were talking about the Yu-Gi-Oh trading cards
I saw at his stand. I saw there was magic cards and spell cards. And this is what he had to say. And I confirmed it on a trading card web site.

"Wizards Of The Coast inc." the maker of "Magic the gathering" Sued "Konami" Maker of our "Yu-Gi-Oh cards" Because that it said "Magic" On the trading cards. (SEE ATTACHED IMAGE) And claimed Copyright. No how stupid is that????? What could that solve? Their pockets were empty and they wanted to fillet with dirty money?

This is not the first time they sued. I found a list too long to list here. From what I saw they sued Nintendo countless times. The biggest ones were over trading card games.

Some thing is labeled Magic. So what. Cry me a river. Bo Ho Grow up already.

Added story from today.

Today in the news paper there was a section about some teens who Climbed up a ladder of an Amtrak electrical access point and got electrocuted. Now they are going to sue Amtrak. Claiming that if there was a warning about arcing electricity they would not have climbed the ladder.

But if you are stupid enough to climb up to electrical lines. With a large metal object like your skate board "One was found on one of the teens who got zapped." you deserve to get electrocuted.

You got any more dumb lawsuits? List them here.

That's Wizards protecting what they own, and they own "magic cards". Had they simply named them spell cards to begin with there wouldn't have been a problem so I support Wizards in maintaining their copyright. This is why it exists.

Nah, it's idiotic. You can't own magic cards. It's not even a goddamn design issue, Magic:TG cards aren't even labeled like that. So what is it about? The fact that they are called "magic" cards? Does Konami own "spell" cards now? Well, crap. Games Workshop beware!

Copyright doesn't exist for that. That's not serving any purpose. I mean, WTF is worth protecting about Magic Card? They don't even protect the game concept. I don't know what they are protecting.

You know what? I think Warhammer has been using both terms for many years before M:TG or Konami.
I also recall a game called "Warlock" I played as a kid. You used magic cards or spell cards to fight other wizards. I don't know the details anymore, but I suspect it may have been pretty similar to Magic: The Gathering.

Personally I think that even for a law suit this reward is far too much. I don't know the extent of the damage but it must be a lot for him to get this.

French guy sues Disney/Pixar because he thinks he owns the rights to stories about lost clown fish. What a goddamn idiot.

And about the card issue, perhaps if top trumps still exist then it would sue all of them for using the card-game concept? I mean, Yu-gi-oh, MG:TG, et al... they're all just glorifed top trumps!

What next? The guys who made POGS suing people for making coasters because they're round?! Personally I think it's ridiculous.

Another story I herd was a burglar entered a yard and fell into the pool and hurt his neck. He sues the maker of the pool saying that if the bottom of the pool was smooth that he would have slid and not hurt his neck. And he wins.

If I was the judge I would said that if he was not attempting to break in to the house to begin with he would not have hurt his neck.

A man is stealing the hubcaps off his neighbor’s car. His neighbor gets into the car and starts it up. Not seeing this guy trying to rip off the last hubcap he runs over his hands. The thief sues his neighbor and wins.

Now the lesson with this one here boys and girls is that you do not put your hands on the wheels of a moving car.

That's what should be taught from this situation, but it seems that the moral of the story is that theft is a good idea, since failure gets you money from the people you tried to steal from.
