I use it on Face alot for several purposes:
1) To load-up on sniping goods and land on a ledge over there to snipe from behind 2) Land on a ledge over there and make your way up the back to fark with the idiot-snipers on the roof 3) The most important reason to use it is that you make it to the enemies base with full health and armor (if you picked it up off the roof before you translocated. Translocating on that map is very easy. Get on the roof and move to the far left of the nook with the teleporter. Make sure you are backed against the wall (in the corner). Try to place your disk close to the left wall about half way between you and the top of the ramp. Kneel down and, even though it looks like your disk is going to fly to the left (due to the angle your hammer will strike it), it usually flies slightly right and lands just to the right of the middle sniper nest on the enemies base. Once you are there, you can do whatever you like. Sometimes, I snipe from there and TL into the nest when I am out of bullets then just TL back to the ledge. It is up to you. But, like I said, even if sniping isn't your thing (which it isn't really mine), it is very useful to avoid conflicts heading to the opponents base. I think we need to get some of the PuF skilled at doing this, host a game on face for the express purpose of learning these tricks live with the ability to see it in action. It could prove useful in any upcoming matches (MyUnreal and Unreality)... and I'd like to learn! The amount of places you can TL to on Face is kinda off-key. I mean, if you've got enough people, you can take 'em out from any side of your base that they might be on.
As for Lavagiant, someone posted a demo on here a while back showing how the "Hammer to Ridge" trick is done. November though is where the TL really comes in handy. Find me on the ceiling ![]() "I put a spell on you, 'cos you're mine." - Nina Simone. |

Zaccix, do you mean on the ceiling in the Sub room? I think I saw someone up there for the first time last night... don't see what tactical advantage being up there could hold, but it caught my attention nonetheless...

Hey,
I've been trying for a while to translocate from the top of Face to the other side or from the peaks of the castles on lavagiant to the ridge and just can't seem to get the 'locator to go that far when I'm on the net (I can do it in single player and my ping is usually around 250-300 when on the net). Do you guys have any tips? Do you kneel down before hitting it with the IH? is there a sweet spot to hit? On the plus side, I'm giving a lot of people easy frags on the net as I keep trying to get it up there. Also I'm having a bad time trying to doulbe translocate when on the net - I've heard it is difficult with a ping over 200, but has anyone here been able to do it? thanks for the time, tuort |

Kneel down and aim a little lower than you think you should if you are going for maximum lateral distance. Don't kneel down if you have to get more lift on it.

If you didn't know this before, you can use the impact hammer to send the Translocater disk flying.
If your trying to go for the ridge in Lava Giant, the best way is on the red side, get up on the roof pinnacle and place the disk right up on the apex, charge the hammer fully on primary, aim just below the disk and fire. From blue, either of the back tower roofs are great for placing the disk up there. The lag issue becomes rather a non-issue when doing it this way ![]() I belch in your general direction. |

I finally got up on the ridge in Lava Giant last night practicing offline. For me the easiest way is by throwing the TL while running towards the shield belt, if I have the jump boots one throw should do it, if not a double throw'll get me up there. Using the hammer works as well but it can be hard to judge exactly when to relocate as the TL likes to soar over the ridge and into the lava. Ka-Boooom!

Xy, I can show you how to land it on the ridge every (well, almost) time with the hammer. It's a matter of where to aim when you're in what base. Getting up through the middle is a very vulnerable spot.
Look me up tonight, you can host to eliminate lag. -Rooster is glad that Jenny hates 1/4 of every month. *wink* ![]() "I never learned from a man who agreed with me." ~ Robert A. Heinlein nguid:453406 |

hehe tykeal - that's exactly what I was talking about - but I haven't ever put it right at the apex.... I'll give that a try tonight - I have always put it on the slope. Works in single player, but I have trouble online. But where do you put it for Face if you don't put it on a slope?

Sure thing, then you can experience the UT world through my lag.

Hmm... I haven't exactly tried it on Face.
I had a friend play around after I showed him on Lava Giant. He would drop the disk to either side of a base and aim for the front of their base. He invariably hit got it into the Redeemer box or the sniper pill box. He never managed to get it to the top of the tower though. But, judging from his angle of attack if you went to the lower box (redeemer?) you should be able to drop the disk up to the top of the tower ![]() I belch in your general direction. |

I use the xloc all the time. It's a fun toy. If I had one in real life, I'd telefrag everything. People, dogs, cats, children, monkeys, squirrels, fire hydrants, important support girders in really tall buildings, and the occasional cheese wheel.

On face, when you don't have the peaked slope, it lands way behind you a lot, when you kneel and release on it. Just remember to know where it landed before translocating.
And if you try and fail a lot, snipers can *easily* take you out. On the other hand, if you can land it in their sniper's nest, it easy to get in their base. This is pretty hard for me though. ![]() The Monkeys are ruining my concentration by punching each other in the genitals. I tried to stop them, but they just punched me in the genitals. Yeah, also in the pool room on red.. the anti-sniper spot .. the big rafter with the lights way up there above the pool. Also, as Z said, along those high rafters above the little sniper ridge that runs around the sub room.

You know it's rather interesting, I was playing a game with my roomates and a lot of bots. I had TL'ed up to the rafters in the red pool room and after I had done that, the bots just kept coming up there (my team) and sniffing me out. It was rather funny.

Actually no they hadn't. First thing any of us (my roommates and I do) when we have bots on our team is to tell the to either defend the base or take their flag (become a target) we don't like them following us around, they generally get in our way.
I just found it rather interesting that it wasn't until one of us was up there that they would go up there. Once they had been up there though, they would start to defend from there if they were on defense. It was odd. ![]() I belch in your general direction. |
