UT2004 Demo Maps Revealed

(Bumped from yesterday)
Mark Rein's just announced the UT2004 Demo Maps in the official #UT IRC channel. The demo will contain five maps, AS-Convoy, BR-Colossus, DM-Rankin, CTF-BridgeofFate and ONS-Torlan. I myself am looking forward to seeing how Rankin goes TDM.

Interesting, I thought there wasn't going to be an assault map included, but I guess Epic changed their minds. This is going to be a meaty demo

Right now its coming in around 250 but their trying to get it closer to 200, I don't know if they will because they have already done some things to decrees the size with out being intrusive. They want a smaller size because statistically small=more downloads I thought the obvious thing to do was take off Rankin you all have played DM before so the only thing new is to see the new lay out Epic is working on for most of the new DM maps, clean, open, and lots of y-axis movement; o ya half if not less static meshes than any of the 2003 maps!

Yes, that's Torlan. See the latest movie we posted news on for a very good look at it.

Sorry if it has been asked before, I was not able to find it... will there be a GNU/Linux of this demo or will we have to wait for the final release?

Well-chosen maps, although I agree with Amadeus that Rankin should be taken off. The other maps should show folks that UT04 is less mesh-heavy, and DM is going out of style afterall... I think more people would be attracted to buy UT04 by downloading a smaller-sized demo than by playing Rankin in the demo.

Taking off Rankin would result in 10 MB less filesize.
That's a wonderful 4 % less filesize while still a very large croud likes DM and wants to play it as well.

Exclamation Looking good...

The official IRC channel for the UT series is #ut on irc.enterthegame.com.

As for DM, it's the most played gametype, so it'd be suicide not to include it. DM-Rankin does look like a top-quality map, so it should be good. The map selection for the demo is very stong IMO
