Multiple Passes on a Shader and VideoCards
I was messing around with an idea which ended up as a cool concept which ended up not being my original though to begin with *eyes shift back and forth* hmm let me recap i made a shader then found the same shader already within one of the texture files for ut2003. well here is the deal it was the way i did it and applied it to this texture it ended up having 3 passes which i then got down to 2. anyhow it was a fire shader for the phoenix skin i wanted to create for my friend Phoenix. i spent a good month or so just trying to get the shader to look right and sent him the final version of my work and turned out he couldnt see the skin so i had him disect the utx file inside unrealed2k3 and we found that all the textures that had the shader applied to it had an error. i figured it was a corupt file so i redid the whole thing and sent him a repackaced utx and got the same thing. So then had him go to the properties of one of the textures where we saw what the error was said something about not being able to support a multiple passes. Im running a 128mb ati radeon 9000pro and had no problems and he is running an nvidia gf4 ultra 5900 256 meg, i eventualy tried it out on several machines and out of 6 machines (including mine) it was only able to run on 2......
So i guess my question is does anyone know how to find out what cards support multiple passes, can it be fixed with driver updates or is it limited to certain cards.
heh just thought id see if anyone else has run into this
heh k well I'll post again soon =P
