So I decided, "hey! let me see how CS 1.6 is! What is the worst that can happen?"
I look for patch downloads and only see links to Steam installations. I decide that I'll bite the bullet and see what this Steam can do. "What is the worst that can happen?" Now I can't play CS, NOR Half life because it my attempt to purchase the HL platinum pack has failed?! I already have HL!! And it isn't the platinum pack! It detects I have the platinum pack, it sets it up to run steam succefully, I try to join a server, and then is says "Hey! You have chosen to add HL to 'My Games' list!" It sets it up all over again, and then fails to "purchase" it. WTF?! I can't even run HL single player now! Thanks alot Steam.

Steam sucks. Reinstall HL from scratch after removing all traces of it. Forget 1.6 (its cool tho) u cant play it without steam. I cant even create a LAN game without it CONNECTING to INTERNET... Wtf I need internet for LAN anyway?

valve has only made 1 game, half-life...everything else was either made by others, or an expansion...they are one hit wonders because they have only made 1 game! PS: CS stinks

Valve also made steam and TF2, well they didnt really "make" TF2 they just hyped it up with a whole bunch of renders. Lets review:

Half-Life: Game of the Year unanimously
TF2: Where'd it go?
Powerplay: Good idea that just wont work period and they didnt make it work
Steam: Holy **** what a big ball of crap
CS: CZ: Lets see, this one went through how many development houses? Remember when it used to look like the Xbox version of CS? Yeah, now it just looks like 1.6 again because Valve is working on it
Half-Life 2: Valve didnt know how to use firewalls or anything apparently and it got stolen. The release date is far past and we still have no HL2. My guess is that it's going to ship sometime in 2010 along with DNF and TF2

I got it to work after a HL reinstall.

But All that trouble wasn't worth it.

thats the crap bit about it, you need a net connection no matter what which is why i'm sticking with 1.5 until 1.6 is a download and not a steam install

I like the steam server browser and GUI alot, but entering my CD key EVERYTIME I want to play is a bit of an annoyance.

HL2 looked really great, unfortunately the over-hype and source leak are beginning to rot it, slowly. As for CS... it's not bad IMHO, fun at times, but I simply can't take it too seriously. And yes, HL is orgasmical, to the level of the System Shock series.
