Should illegal immigrants get free college?

I was rather impressed last night by the Green candidate, who was the only one with the courage to speak up and say that we shouldn't be rewarding these people for coming into this country illegally. Of course, the other candidates were too afraid of offending the Latin community in CA to say anything about it (for those of you who don't know, the percentage of caucasians in CA has dropped below 50%. Now we get to have our own television network and bitch about all the other races ).

I think it's bullcrap that they should get two years of community college for free when they broke our laws in the first place. They have better benefits than the white citizens already living here! I admit, CC's aren't too expensive (the local one here is like 12 bucks a unit), but I'm not too clear as to what the "free" means- if it includes housing (doubtful) or other stuff.

Also, the issue of illegal aliens getting Driver's Licenses makes me mad too. While I can see that they need to drive in some cases, we are still making allowances for their illegal actions. My friend got rear-ended by a Mexican who was driving a Semi (in a Dodge Caravan... it's about 2 feet shorter in length now). He didn't speak English, he didn't have a license, he didn't have insurance, and he got out and yelled at my friend in Spanish until the cops came. This is becoming a problem, I say.

On another topic, why should we have a socialized health care system? The way that I see it, our competitive hospital system has produced some of the greatest medical advances in the world. If we go to a state run institution, and doctors are paid less (as you know they will be if the gov't takes over), then where is the initiative for new students to become doctors? Why would any doctor want to do his job better than any other, if they're all getting paid the same? Where would the competition for the best hospitals go? Out the window, I say. If Arianna Huffington wants to have a state-run healthcare system, she should move to Canada (they have it, don't they?)

i pay a very small fee (about 100 euro) for each semester at university and these include free use of public transport and quite a few other benefits. people shoud worry about their studdys, not how the could pay them.

If someone is smart enough to earn a grant ( = free college) to go to college, he should know better than to enter a country unlawfully.

Here's my take. Let's look at how California's doing real fast first...

California's in a budget crisis, last I checked. They had to cut all kinds of jobs and special programs from education just to prevent getting into any further debt. This means that some students will lose much needed benefits.

Now they wanna try to let illegal immigrants go to school for free. But won't that cost money, and the state doesn't have enough to begin with? So what're they gonna do, cut more jobs and programs and make it worse for those of us that came here legally, just to education people that shouldn't even be here in the first place?

Now that doesn't make sense........

Well, let's talk about that when it's free to legitimate citizens, shall we. (In US, it is not free to citizens)

Basic education (kindergarden plus pre-college education) in Belgium is free already, so higher education shouldn't be imo.

They shouldn't even be allowed to enroll. If they are going to a school that receives state and\or federal money, then they shouldn't be going there at all since they don't pay any taxes. By them getting to get a free ride on the tax money I pay is not fair. Why should we give free rides to people that aren't american citizens, when there are people who can't afford school as a citizen. Doesn't make sense to me. Become a citizen and then they can have the free ride, but not before.

You also pay taxes. These people don't. Therefore, to cover the cost of their education you will play 300 euro to go to school. Don't seem so great now does it?

to be honest... i just to have to look around to see more waste of tax money then any imigrant could cause. ppl are complaining about like 1000 germans who benefit from the wellfare system while living in a foreign country while our politicans build a new sauna for the parliament. i see roads leading to nowhere which have been build for the one and only reason to justify the budged of the state. i see one third of the german poppulation being paid less while working longer for the reason to "make east germany more atractive to investors" - yet you get even paid less in the ****ing army, and its not like there are that many concurenting armys here. i see our loved füh ... erm chancellor build the worlds biggest gouvernmental office (about eight times as big as the white house). there is just too much wrong to make me care about a few imigrants benefiting from my tax money. the sick politics are wasting billions of euros, why should i care about a few millions actually spend for a good porpuse. shure it wouldn't get better if they don't get any education, i think we all can agree on that. its their parrents who imigrated, not the children - if you don't educate them they'll never be able to pay any taxes.

Umm... if illegal immigrants were allowed to get licenses, and thus had an incentive to take driving lessons, wouldn't that have solved your problem?

Illegal immigrants are a problem, yes, but I'm not sure that denying them services out of mere vengeance is any sort of solution. How is an uneducated man, illegal immigrant or not, better for America than an educated one?

This may sound just a tad harsh but this would all be solved very quickly if America would just get tougher on punishing illegals. I have simple solution if you get caught crossing the border you get shot on the spot no trial no jury you do not pass go you die. I think it would stop about 80% of the illegal crossings we have after they see we mean business.

My friend told me some colleges are offering a workshop two weeks before school starts, and covers topics such as how to succeed, as well as a basic rundown on how college-life goes. Oh wait, it's open to everyone but caucasians.

Yes, yes, poor downtrodden whitey. But isnt discrimination based on race illegal in a supposedly progressive state like California? Especially in education - where so many racial equality battles were fought. Surely it must be?

I think you Americans should just allow people to shoot who they want if they look foreign and shifty. I mean, you already have the guns, what's the point if you can't use them to defend your country?

Here in britain primary education is free, but secondary isn't. Illegal tax dodging immigrants should be locked up, not rewarded. There is a system of education in place that rewards the best and filters the rest, fleeing the country to get something for free is just plain stealing.
