Me thinks the MPAA needs to random drug test it's employees, before they make comments to the press...

Quite possibly the dumbest excuse for a press release that's ever been written. People simply won't watch **** movies. They haven't figured that out yet, same as RIAA hasn't worked out that people are buying less and less CDs because the music sucks.

I think there's some kind of disease that infects anyone working for a company ending in IAA and turns them into a FREAKING IDIOT!

Gigli? HAHAHAHAHAHA!! Yes, we all didnt go see Gigli because everyone else told us not to. Maybe we didnt because it was possibly one of the WORST movies of our time? Na that couldnt be it! It's rational!!
![]() I swear, they must have people working around the clock making stupid juice or something so that by morning, they can have enough stupid to pass around to everyone else in the building. Sheer brilliance. That's like saying a P2 233mhz is slow because people say it's slow.

I have difficulty comprehending how retarded some people are, I just can't understand how it's feasible for people to be this dumb.
Oh noes, people are texting their friends and telling them our movies are crap! We must stop them!

Looks Like a case of some poor shmo trying to make an excuse so he dosent get fired.
That or the first stage in a campaign to block Celular/Digital signals from Movie theatre buildings. Which might be a good thing, Considering the Battle of Helms Deep would have sounded so much cooler without the Bloody phone behind me going off with a Vanity ring for "Happy Birthday" Then again, Individuals who dont turn off their ringers should be the ones to suffer. Not the people with good sense. Whatever the motivation. The MPAA's comment is absurd. I should look it up reall, because it boggles the mind that they would relese something THAT Ignorant

Umm... but they're basically right. Text messaging has made it easier to tell someone that a movie sucks - of course you always used to be able to do that, but now you can tell someone the moment you walk out of the theatre, while it's fresh in your mind, and not have to wait until you meet them.
About the only silly thing in the article is the "Industry executives say that this undermines a carefully crafted marketing image" bit, and I find it hard to believe, particularly as there's no actual link to this press release, that the industry would actually admit that all its films suck and its only advertising that matters.

Sam, you're right, but the article seems to blame only the text messaging. What about movie reviews? What about general hear say?
This is just a theory, it's probably got a fair amount of truth in it too, but it's not taking all the factors in (such as the crap storyline for example).

It doesn't matter. Text messaging, whether it means people talk about the movies more or not, is not the problem. THE MOVIE IS THE PROBLEM. Just because someone tells their friend that the movie sucks sooner, when it's fresh in their mind, that doesn't mean that text messaging is undermining the movie industry. If the movie was good, people would text their friends saying so. The MPAA's accusation is outrageous and stupid, no matter how you slice it.

gigli was the recent bomb starring Ben AFLAC and J-Ho.
You may have been thinking of Girl 6 or Body of Evidence

Have the sales of good movies increased due to text messaging??? If it works, it should work both ways...
