hey look what's possible with 2k3

Hey I found this on the Beyondunreal mainsite, looks like the long sough after pip effect for the scope can be done in ut2k3

sorry dude but you can do that with UT 1 as well
a few mods use that effect (Marathon something).

I may be wrong but you can only use square screens, if you look closly on that pic you post you can tell it's square in fact, with the round thing masking the corners

edit: i find their implementation really good nonetheless

Yep, it's really cool. only downside is the fact that it eats frames like nothing else. You know how slow UT runs...imagine if two people tried to play UT on your machine at the same time. That's exactly what's opens up another viewport on your screen, and re-renders the whole scene a second time. So you computer has to do double time to make it work

I like how the PIP looks, but wouldn't the scope be larger in real life since your eye is close to it?

It'd be useful for implementing scout rifles.

That's pretty cool. But wouldn't the scope's sight take up most of your line of sight as your eye would be closer to the scope?

But that would make a cool extra aiming mode so you can see enemies around you at the cost of gun aiming stability.
If you are ever given a chance to pick up a quater, run. Run with whatever speed God has given you and pray "They" don't catch you.
