Doom 3 demo next month

Demo of Doom 3 comes out next month supposely. Here are the requirements for it. Keep in mind that these are probably over exagerrated as is the case has been since quake 1. All of ID Softwares games have ran great on very low end systems.

GeForce 3 TI / ATI 9600 Pro
256 MB RAM

Standard:
CPU: 1,7GHZ ~ 2GHZ
GeForce 4 TI 4400/4600 - ATI 9700/Pro
512 MB RAM

Optimal:
CPU: 2,5GHZ ~ 2.8 GHZ
GeForce 5800FX/5900FX - ATI 9800 Pro
786 ~ 1024MB RAM

I fall under the optimal

My god, i've got a Athlon 2200+(1.8Ghz), GF4 Ti 4400, and 512 ram., and i thought my system was pretty good

Anyways, after seeing the Half-Life 2 trailer, I think i would rather spend my money on HL, but i would have to try doom.

BTW, what are the expected sys. recs for HL2?

nothing offical yet on Half-life 2. personally I dont see why you cant buy both.

as far as I know they arent coming out at the sametime. Doom 3 will be out first, long before Half-life 2 it looks like. with the demo next month I imagine doom 3 is almost ready to go gold and will be released in atleast a month or two after the demo.

Heh, I'm all over the place with my new system. Some specs fall under each category (my gfx card is in between standard and optimal, processor is standard, and ram is minimum).

Beerbaron has the best chance out of all of us of playing the full version with the graphics maxed.

do you have the 256mb version of the Radeon 9800 beeb?

...and they wonder why I'm almost exclusively a console gamer these days. My current system is near "optimal", but not for long. I refuse to keep shelling out hard earned cash every 6-8 months to play a $49 game.

I'm shocked that out of 13 posts, nobody has asked to see the source of the first post. I highly doubt that's official, and I doubt the demo will be released next month even more.

John Carmack said that there would probably be no demo, plus those specs are way out of wack, a 9600 pro is lower than a 4400/4600?

Anyways, where'd you get this info?

Somethingawful forums, but they provided a link to another website, the site just didnt work so I didnt bother posting the link, I just assumed it was correct infomation. I see now that was a bad idea, as I havent seen any other sites give infomation on this demo.

so as it is right now I guess we can end up disregarding this infomation as it could be wrong.
