For some time the modsquad site is reaaalllly slow. Currently I am already waiting minutes to see the review of GTX 4.0.
Am I the only one with this problem? All other PlanetUnreal sites are as fast as usual. The frontpage of modsquad is fast and the columns also, but the reviews take veeeeery long to load.

This is likely because the site is coded in .asp instead of .php. I'm not sure if there's a recode in the works, or planned, or what's going on.

Yes, a recode is planned using PHP. Just to note, ASP is actually faster than PHP and more secure. However, the main slowdown with the site right now is the connection to the Access database. With PHP, the database used is usually MySQL which is WAY faster than Access and supports more similtaneous users.
Not sure how soon before the recode is done. Right now, I'm pretty busy with work and life. I think Pete is planning on his next web creation on being something designed in PHP. We'll keep ya posted. |
