somewhere; sometime?
since when did this become about whether or not the feature was innovative?
who cares?

it's awesome.
most multiplayer games could NEVER hope to support more than 100 players; let alone 1000.

imo Just Cause 2 was awesome before this.

now it's only more awesomer.
but it certainly feels like this should have been a feature that shipped with the game originally.

I have to say i never "got" just cause 2.
Once you've 100%'d one military base/village/town/facility/city you've done them all... except you haven't because you have to repeat it a million times.

Every fight is the same and they keep expecting you to drive cars when the only functioning transport is either with the parachute or a helicopter because the cars drive like shopping trolleys with bullet-magnets in the tyres.

That misses the point, though. Multiplayer is no longer an innovation, because it's existed in many games across many genres. Upping the playercount for a multiplayer match, by extension, is not an innovation either.

How many free roaming sandbox games have true multiplayer that doesn't either seriously limit the player-count and/or restrict the play-area either physically or with specific timed or un-timed objectives.

... and as Jacks says, who care if it innovates. All you need to care about this is ownership of the game in question and a moderate amount of desire to play with other humans in it. If you don't have either of these ths isn't marketed for you... it's not marketed at all in fact.

You cheapskates who haven't bought the game yet might want to take a look at the weekend Steam sale. The game's $3.74 and all the DLC totals to $2.18

to be fair, I think this can be said of virtually all sandbox games.

you're right though, about the vehicles being mostly useless because of the parachute.
