My computer sucks (it's a Compaq)

PII 450mhz
128MB RAM
ATI Rage Fury Pro LT (Maestro or some BS, compaq is stupid)

640x480x32
World Textures - Medium
Skin Detail - Medium
Decals and Dynamic Lighting ON

Min 15.44 - Max 39.66 - Avg - 21.16

I know my video card is holding me back.. trying to convince my parents to let me build my own. This POS Compaq pisses me off.

What really gets me is I see people playing UT with 32MB RAM. To even get UT to start, I have to have at least 85MB RAM available to play, or it just hangs at the splash screen.

----edit----
I forgot to mention one important thing; I use software rendering, so I guess my vid card doesn't have much effect, besides not letting me use anything besides software.

It bothers me that half the people on here dont mention there entire sets of details (volumetric lighting, dynamic lighting and v sync can make a hell of a difference to frame rates in the city intro) oh well heres mine anyhow....

Sytem:-

AMD Athlon 1000 TBird
256 Mb Pc 100 RAM
Herc Prof GF2 GTS 32Mb (using 10.80 detonator drivers)
GA-7IXE4 AMD 750 AGPset (using updated AMD chipset drivers from gigabyte homepage)
Sound Blaster Live 5.1 Surround Sound Card

Settings:-

1024/768
32bit
High everything
The only things that are off are Volumetric lighting, detail Textures,no surround sound, shiny surfaces and no v sync enabled on the GF2, everything else is on

Results:-

D3D (using the latest alternative d3d dlls)

Min = 32.72
Max = 112.94
Avg = 63.92

Open Gl (using the latest Open gl dll)

Min = 38.48
Max = 111.06
Avg = 64.61

-Dynamic Lighting is ON
-VSYNC is OFF
-Everything else is on or maxed out.
-OpenGL mode
-4.36 Patch

Oh, and sorry about the large post, but I don't think I can do tables or anything like that :D

here's mine...

Ok, here's my timedemo for the cityintro...

AMD Athlon 950
128MB PC100 RAM
8 gig HD
17" monitor; 75 mhz
Vsync disabled
High detail textures
High detail skins
Detail textures enabled
Dynamic lighting enabled
Let's face it... EVERYTHING enabled and running on highest setting

slowvideobuffering disabled
800x600x16 glide on my Voodoo 5 5500 PCI

(btw, at any higher resolutions; I'm all squinty tryin to read the menus, so I run it at 800x600 so I can read)

Oh yeah, my Voodoo is running at 2xFSAA... all the time, I can never go back after seeing it in action. The fps would be higher without this setting, but NO WAY!!

Min 39.53
Max 108.05
Avg 60.65

Btw... good post, glad it is hanging around so long.

We're talking on the City Intro - and you should post your specs on your system (with drivers & dll's for UT) if you're gonna post your fps - that way people can see if their system is up to par.

Of course par changes daily. :)
