It was filmed in Atlanta in June, so i went down to the set. Some pics:

Tank was concealed, here was my best shot of it:

Awesome map i made of the set:

They had the streets closed off for two different weekends, these are from the second:

Gunfire!

This is the scene where he meets Glenn after running out of the tank. The only full scene we saw being filmed:

Carting the tank off:

We saw four zombies close-up but they all were being wrangled by production assistants so i didn't get good shots. Three were driving into the set in full make-up, and one was being escorted down the street. It was awesome.

Edit: Sry for the pic sizes; what's the tag to shrink them?

Show rocks. Comic rocks. Darabont rocks. AMC rocks. Romero-esque zombies rock.

Indeed indeed. Especially your comment on Frank Darabont. No one is as capable at adapting works(especially Stephen Kings stuff) like him.

Awesome shots right there Skold. How many zombie actors did you actually count? You always see a lot on the show, but I'm guessing a lot of them are made through CG.

There were a lot of them. i think most of the ones in the show were real. You could even tell which ones were meant to be "background" zombies- they had gray paint on and no wounds. We even saw a bunch of them eating at the craft services table which was laid out in the middle of a closed-off street. :)

The first episode was good. Can't go wrong with zombies, and even if you do it's still zombies. Though, I wasn't quite sure how I felt about the whole "waking up in a hospital/coma" beginning to the whole thing. It probably didn't help that I watched 28 Days Later right before it premiered. The 2nd episode was better. I'll be keeping an eye on this one. It's just hard to say that "it rocks!" since I haven't seen anything really new yet. But at least they used slow zombies.

Haven't had a chance to check the comic out.

I just read that, after two episodes, this show is already set up for a second season.

Wow! It had 5.2 million views on the pilot and 4.7 million on the second episode. That's pretty decent return rate.

Good show so far, but pretty damn contrived.

Oh how convenient, it just happens to rain for the few minutes in which they are escaping, then it stops. Come on writers. Come on.

Token black guy just happens to accidentally drop the key down a skinny ass pipe, leaving the cookie cutter racist to die.

And the stupidest thing of all:

Hey let's just violently swing an axe at a dead body while everyone stands two feet away with no protection. Who cares if blood sprays in our eyes, it's not like it's a highly contagious zombie. Oh wait. And using bare hands during that same scene... Seriously?

They never said it had anything to do with blood, it was always about actually being bitten (or scratched, I guess).

As reader of the comic, i can tell you that there are more than a few times that what the survivors think are "rules" are incorrect. This is part of what is so great about it.

Twisted Metal could sit there and whine and likely get handcuffed on the roof while real men and women tried to figure out what to do.

That's funny cause the cop guy said exactly, "Don't get any on your eyes or skin."

or something to that extent...

About the bare hands thing though, weren't they using gloves?

During the summer in Florida it's almost a daily occurrence to get rainfall for a few minutes in the afternoon. I don't know about Atlanta but it's certainly likely/plausible they have similar weather patterns.

As Skold says, these guys are not very likely to know the "rules" at all. How many people has Rick seen get infected?

Some were wearing gloves, but the blonde woman used her bare hand to place the gun in Rick's bloody jacket. They just weren't very careful at all which I found kind of silly after Rick specifically said not to get it on your skin.

And when 90% of the population is dead, you KNOW it's highly contagious. There's no sense of fear when they just carelessly throw guts all over themselves.

They never brought the grenade into play either. Perhaps next episode (assuming Rick still has it)?

Nah, I'm sure the writers completely forgot about the grenade.
