Xbox360 problem (disc drive) ?

I have no problems like that on my 360. I also own the PS3 version too. My 360 is set to load the Xbox Home when I power on and I load a disc in the tray it reads it fine. Your 360 could have a a drive malfunction.

started, but...

...not looking good. My DVD brand is not what was described in the threads and is a little different, so not sure if it will work. Won't finish until next week, but here are the links I used to do this:

EDIT: Damage's post in that last link does not bode well. Apparently, I have the only DVD drive brand (Philips-LiteOn) that is a b*tch to fix if it can at all.:( It still does the two whir thing with games and that's it. Continuing....

I have one more test to do, then the DVD drive is toast if that test does not work. Are you guys saying I'm SOL if I try and replace the drive on any other site except Microsoft? I wonder if they even will do that anymore? Does that also rule out getting a different DVD brand (like Hitachi or something easier to fix in the future if I can get one)?

EDIT: I figured it out, just not sure if I can post DVD flash info here.

Toast, but I'm ordering a new DVD drive and flashing, etc. I'll let you know how it goes. Goggle is a wonderful thing!:) The magnet just won't get close enough to get the disc to do more than two quick whirrs. Besides, there could be something else wrong with it as well, who really knows. I placed the magnet directly on the center with it open and then there is nothing to keep the whole thing in-place to function.

Not going to work. Not only do I have the hardest drive to flash, but also the hardest firmware to extract.:( I also can't even get my system to recognize the 360 drive at all to even BEGIN the process.

:( I have some bad news too! My 360 won't read any disc at all, other than that, I can still get on the dashboard or watch movies on the flash drive connected on the 360. Too bad I can't use it to extract more content from my UC2 disc anymore

Xbox disc are finely readable on PC, they just have a different filesystem - you need special programs to "see" them, but they work on PC DVD drives.

I'm using the special software, but it just won't recognize it. The instructions for that special software are detailed, but not detailed enough to enlighten me as to what is going wrong in my case. I'm hooking it up to SATA on my computer and it's just not recognizing it. In fact, the only drive it recognizes is my BenQ parallel drive as far as the ports. I do see all the drive letter recognized except the one the X-Box might be on. I'll try it on another system when I get another chance; this other system has SATA only and it Win7 and not WinXP, so maybe I'll have better luck.

EDIT: will be trying it on another system next weekend (not this weekend).

My 360 finally took a dump. The only problem I have now is trying to find someplace that can repair it because it's out of warranty :(
