Nation Red is awesome. It's like a zombie love letter from the developer to the fans. I bought it what seems like years ago, and they've added several games' worth of content in that time.

Anyhow, starting next week Amazon is doing a pretty crazy sale. Especially if you got a $5 coupon code for buying certain games during Nov/Dec.

1/15 – Alice Madness Returns: $7.49 - $2.49 with $5 Holiday Promo Code (for the bestsellers of 2011)
1/16 – Dragon Age Origins Ultimate Edition + Dragon Age 2 Bundle: $11.99 - $6.99 with $5 Holiday Promo Code (for the bestsellers of 2011)
1/17 – Medal of Honor - $6.99 - $1.99 with $5 holiday promo code (for the bestsellers of 2011)
1/18 – Battlefield Bad Company 2 - $6.99 - $1.99 with $5 holiday promo code (for the bestsellers of 2011)
1/19 – Crysis Maximum - $7.49 - $2.49 with $5 holiday promo code (for the bestsellers of 2011)
1/20 – Bulletstorm - $6.99 - $1.99 with $5 holiday promo code (for the bestsellers of 2011)
1/21 – Crysis 2 - $9.99 - $4.99 with $5 holiday promo code (for the bestsellers of 2011)

Right now, Dead Space 2 is FREE if you have one of those codes ($5 without)

Hal where are you seeing those dates? I have a coupon and was trying to see if perhaps Dead Island was going to be on one of those dates?

If anyone pounced on this deal like I did (or just recently purchased it from Amazon.com), and you noticed you had a bad activation code, here is an interesting quote from Amazon itself:

Jan 16, 2012 7:54:57 PM PST
Digital Downloads - Games says:

There was an issue with the keys that were distributed to customers who had recently purchased Dead Space 2. Affected customers have had the bad key removed from their Games & Software Library, and it has been replaced by a new valid key. There is no need to re-download the game. Launch the game again from initial install, and when prompted to enter the serial number, enter the new key that was distributed. You are not required to have an Origin account for this game.

For a while there I thought I was going to HAVE to crack the game in order to play it (though I may still do so, to avoid the activation stuff).

I know it's universally hailed as horribly terri-bad, but for $5, just might get it

It's not really terribad. I recently played through it and it was alright, really. DNF is certainly nothing groundbreaking, and it's fairly disjointed given all the things it has accumulated over the years. But, it was a pretty decent shooter with some fairly annoying mechanics. Definitely worth the $5.

The main thing that bothers me is the choice of only two (or four) weapons, coupled with the fact that bosses only take damage from explosives (pipe bombs, rockets, devastator, trip mines). The funniest thing is that the RPG only has an ammo capacity of 5, which means in order for you to be able to beat any of the bosses, there are ammo crates by every boss that allow you to replenish your supply of ammo at will. It's kind of stupid and seems like the result of some bizarre design decisions. I think Gearbox did a pretty good job of pulling it together and giving us a decent game. Maybe they'll even make another one that is less messy.

Yeah, DNF is worth $5. It's not worth passing up just because of the bad press. It's not the greatest game ever and probably deserved some of the scores it got, but it is kind of an "antiquity" of gaming, lots of ideas from several generations of gaming so it kind of plays like a generational playbook of game design from 1998 to 2011. As Slayer said, though, there are some quite confusing design decisions like the extremely limited ammo and such.

Is Space Marine any good?

Also, if anyone have a THQ or SM coupon I trade you something for it, if not then I just get the game over greenmangaming for $12

I like it, the campaign was a decent length and difficulty and the multiplayer is really fun.

Hmm, the lack of DRM must have something to do with not receiving an activation/product key, hence not being able to activate the games on Steam.
Part of me wanted to be able to have it stored in my Steam Library for downloading etc., but it's not a big deal, and I'm quite glad they are DRM free.

Oh! and cheap :)

btw, they have added a few more games to that list.
