Hey all,
I've been using the loki render for a while, to varied success as it's good, but not perfect. Anyway i got the epic one and my performance has shot up, aswelll as the picture quality i think too, or maybe that's just a setting somewhere...
Anyway there's no Precache (which is important to a little pc like mine in order for smoother gameplay) and my gamma's a bit high, anyone know how to sort this out?

cheers.

Hmm...

...I thought pre-caching was only something that happens in D3D. I currently use the Loki .dll file for OpenGL and it doesn't pre-cache. But you said that performance shot up after switching to the new renderer...so what's the point if wanting the "pre-caching" feature back?

Anyhoots, go here to update your vid card's drivers:

The performance increase is in the rendering, but my file access is still a little slow, so having the precache (i'm assuming what it does is load alot of stuff into memory or a cache in drivespace) in order to let the game run more smoothly without as many arbitrary file seeks...it was in the loki render i had (DoPrecache, i think it was called) and it helps, by stopping the numerous pauses that take place when you pick up a new weapon, or just basically do something new in the game...

epic's latest 436 patch provides pretty decent OGL support... you just have to manually choose to use it when you specify rendering while setting up the game... My frames are as high on my GF2 GTS as they are in D3D and the picture quality is MUCH better- more fluid and depthful. The gamma's a bit low but I just crank it up in the ASUS setting before I fire up the game.. no biggy.

cheers

BTW, what is the loki OpenGL driver, and where can I find it? =P
have you heard of Loki Games? have you heard that they're basically the head of porting UT to Linux now? anyhow, Daniel Vogel for one reason or another started porting their Linux renderer to Windows.. I believe that the newest beta driveres are actually made by Loki as well and you're probably better off using those drivers than the ones you can get at lokigames
