The problem a lot of people have with physical punishment of a child is that, as is generally believed by psychologists, punishment may be effective but it has the consequence of producing other negative behaviors if there is no positive alternative to the child's behavior offered. What I think that bakery should've done is given the kids a cookie on the way out after they had shut up the rest of the time. Forking over goods to try to placate really doesn't work, and I bet half the time the kids there scream to get a cookie because they know they will :tdown:
And beating your kid for every little thing he does (which is what "libs", and most noninsane people, have the problem with) doesn't show them a positive outcome for anything they do. Despite what some people say, I'd wager you need both positive and negative rewards to raise a non-****ed-up kid
