DM-UTCRAFT (v1.0)


A Minecraft village, set on a small island at sunset! It's great for invasion and has a lot of hiding places and secret passages. I strived to make it looks as accurate to Minecraft as possible (with a few intentional exceptions) while also making it play well in UT2004. I hope you enjoy this map!

This map includes a music mutator that picks a random Minecraft song (thank you, Great Emerald!) when the map loads. It works automatically, so you DO NOT need to activate it on your mutator list. In addition, you will find jukeboxes spread around the island - press "E" to play that jukebox's song.

I used DGUnreal's ambient voice actor for the various ambient mob sounds, which randomizes the location and directions of the sounds. There are various triggered sounds that play when you grab a pickup or visit a certain zone.

I designed a bunch of meshes and pickups to make UT2004 stuff match the look of Minecraft. There are also some paintings in the level; some are from straight from Minecraft, one is of a beam warlord from the Disastrous Consequences server, two others are based on artwork from UT99 and UT2003. There are a number of signs in the level that show the top player's name and score, among other things.

I should have released the final version of this map like a year ago, but better late than never, right?

How to install:
Open the main UT2004 folder and put these files in the following folders:

Put DM-UTCRAFT.ut2 in \Maps
Put creative2.ogg in \Music
Put creative3.ogg in \Music
Put creative4.ogg in \Music
Put creative5.ogg in \Music
Put MCRaceTheme.ogg in \Music
Put DM-UTCRAFTmutator.u in \System
Put DM-UTCRAFTmutator.ucl in \System
Put UTCRAFTResources.utx in \Textures

If you have Steam, the main folder will be Steam\SteamApps\common\Unreal Tournament 2004.
Otherwise, the main folder will usually be named UT2004.

If you are asked to overwrite any files, do so.

Private test.
*Added more cover to the beach areas to make the map a bit less hit-scan dominant.
*Redesigned the room under the forge a bit more.
*Made the emerald a call button for a lift going directly below.
*Tweaked the low detail settings so that people with low spec systems would have better performance.
*Some more pathing tweaks for a better invasion experience in the caves, and to keep bots from getting stuck on blocky terrain.

2015-02-25 DM-UTCRAFT-A23.

*Moved assets to an external package, UTCRAFTResources.utx. (Although a texture package, it also contains the sounds and static meshes.)
*Made a wildcard base for the secret room, made opening it simpler. (Shoot the gold block.)
*Put a call button under the forge to make going back up possible without a translocator.
*Various other minor changes.
*Updated UCL for the random music mutator so it will show a description on the mutator tab.

2015-02-17 DM-UTCRAFT-A22.
Fourth public test. DO NOT MIRROR.
*New random music script (made with Great Emerald's help.)
*New emitter effects on jukeboxes and other things.
*Replaced the old mountain on the eastern side of the map with a brand new new area.
*Reworked a few textures and remade the health pickup base.
*Expanded beaches outwards and made them less jagged.
*Revised tunnel layout with a few new routes and made them a bit more open and a bit less boxy.
*Got rid of a lot of the grass meshes, put in some flowers (on grass) and scrub (on beach.)
*Lots of signs with scripted messages showing score, etc.
*Added ambient sounds from Minecraft.
*Various new meshes and textures.
*Lots of secrets.

2015-01-21 DM-UTCRAFT-A19.

*New custom pickups.
*Massive layout expansion, including new beach and tunnel areas.
*Better music volume.

*Rearranged some of the houses and made the plaza area more spacious.
*Stairs leading from the forest area up to the middle hill for better flow.

The map itself is only 16mb, but I included several ogg files for the jukeboxes.


Click on the big red square with a white arrow on it. Also at the bottom of the page on the left hand side there is a language selector for the site.

DM in Minecraft LOL whoever thunk it; my son plays this game and it looks really good as far as I can tell. This is my first DM or any UT for many months now and it was fun! Looks like it captured the visuals and atmosphere of Minecraft and was enjoyable. I would add more weapon pickups and a larger default botload, but still works. Love the big keg ‘o health on top of that building for easy-access and seems to be plenty of health in general around. I guess it’s about time I tried this map (or any map recently), right?
