Newbie...1st dumb question

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

When joining servers, maps download when it's a new map. I'm sure you all know very well. Where do those maps go ??? I can't find them Secondly, how can I use those maps when running a dedicated server??? The skins too??? Thanks for your patience, UT is for months old for me.

Yay, 100 posts!

They're in the UT cache. You need to get CacheCleaner to move them to their proper place on your hard drive. Hmm, I can't find the site for it. Sorry, I'll keep looking.

Wlcome to PuF :)
It's much faster to download the maps from Nali city
before you join a server. This is if you know what maps the server run of course. or you could download all custum UT maps:D

BTW: consider yourself humped, truffles will soon be served :)

try file planet...
if you'd prefer to do it manually,
goto UT\cache dir and there should be a file called cache.ini along with a bunch of other files with wierd numbers in their name ending in .uxx.
Open cache.ini in notepad and you'll see a list of the wierd numbered files in your cache. After each filename will be an entry ie if file name is 0234FA4597.uxx in chache.ini it'll appear as
0234FA4597.uxx = DM-mapname.unr
That means that wierd number file is really a level called DM-Mapname(as an example)
Simply go back in exlporer and rename the wierd numbered name file to DM-Mapname and move it to your UT map name dir and voila it should be there enxt time you start UT.

Use UT Mapmanager. It's a great tool for installing maps you have download as a zip-file from for example Nali City or maps you downloads from UT servers.
See my attachment.

Darn U, Swedix! U beat me to it. :D
I use UTMM and it's a great proggy; takes care of the cache, installs/uninstalls maps/skins/mods whatever.
And also of course keep track of which maps are installed. ;)
