Now here's an example of the female soldier outfit. This one I really like(d).
Plenty of armour.
Cool shoulder- and kneepads and boots.
Sure, there's an opening near the breast area but oh dear omg right?

You can also see a tattoo on her left arm, and the abdomen on her belly.
(meaning she's a though grrrl... then again, all UT girls are like that...
Especially that bitch, which she is, with the mask. You fight her on dm-kgalleon in the sp-ladder. Really psychotic :O)...I can't remember her name...)

Ah, good old unrealed I wub you!

Her name is Vanessa:

Vanessa was committed at a psychiatric institution at the age of twelve for murdering her parents and brother. This one is a real nut case. She likes to blow her opponents open with a well aimed rocket.

=D

if you want to make Unreal "real", i think thats a mistake. if you look at how females have always been dressed in UT games there are always a majority of covered or conservative outfits rather than revealing ones. but the way i look at it is...

all these players, teams, combatants are coming from different parts of the unreal universe and they all have different styles and methods of fighting and competing in the tournament. that difference is reflected in how they look. the hellions are not and should not be wearing armor, period, its freaking hot on Anubis, so the Anubans o(or whatever they are called now for uc2 and forward) wear armor, but its kinda skimpy like Cleopatra and Asp. The nightmares are probably dead already so Domina can dress as sexy as she wants ta be and so on...

everyone takes the same amount of damage from a rocket or a shock blast because UT isnt a 'classes' game and all player models are equal - and all players with a few exceptions dont want to see the same armored characters running around the game. player models with a visible personality are alot more fun and interesting than a bunch of gorge types or marines in the same bulky armor (just like a bunch of selkets in bikinis would be boring too, though the male teenage audience might disagree with that last bit ;) )

in the end i think in ut2007 we will see more of the same and some amazing looking models, some "half nekkid" and some fully armored, and as far as im concerned thats the way it should be.

And what are your points? They are difficult to see between all the personal attacks.

but instead you just fall back on insisting that I masturbate to game character models.

If you want wellmannered replies, make wellmannered posts.

briachiae said:
If you think any models in ut2k4 are pornstar dressed you need to watch some porn before making that judgement.

This is the 2007 section, I´m talking about my preferences for some models in UT2007. Can you create a sentence without personal attacks?.

briachiae said:
Unreal is pop-culture influenced. They mix in a lot of different themes and none of them are prude or for sensitive people.

So I´m prude and sensitive because I like futuristic armours in videogames? Can you say something without insults?

briachiae said:
OMG cleavage! A bunch of celebrities practically show their whole breast when going to grammy and award shows.

And don´t forget when they fight in bloody sports. What have to do celebrities with a videogame? This is Unreal and I want the unreal thing, for cleavages I already have got my wardrobe.

briachiae said:
I don't care if they don't show cleavage, but I don't care if they show cleavage, because I simply don't give a crap and anyone who does give a crap is over sensitive.

Once again, because I like that kind of style in my hobbies, Am I oversensitive?

briachiae said:
All of the pictures you have shown are necri-like and not pertaining to regular healthy human characters.

Not pertaining to regular healthy human characters. This is good, very good. Have you got a degree in arts as well?

Anyway, have you seen my avatar? Guess which is my team and which are my artistic preferences.

briachiae said:
The only models that look ridiculous in u2k4 because of excess flesh being exposed are the domina-type with the skirt thing. That just looked out of place.

I´m talking neither the models of UT2004 or morality. Am I the only one who notes the inconsistency of the concepts HEAVY ARMOR and CLEAVAGE both together?

JaFO said:
but practically any game shows females as being without anything that even resembles decent armour.
By giving the females decent armour Epic would distinguish themselves from the crowd.

I´m not sure what you are trying to say here.

Neophoenix said:
Thats all i'm saying. But some people here want to take ALL the sexyness out of the models.

That´s not true, anyway, why is so important sex in a FPS?

Neophoenix said:
You’re getting a little eccentric there. While you’re at it why not throw a picture of a nun or a female Muslim in there, because that’s basically what you are saying they should look like. As others have said the game is UNREAL. Not only that but it is based off of current culture as before mentioned. When was the last time you saw any female on TV or in a game, esp. a female warrior, that did not have sex appeal?

I don´t understand your post.

Are you saying I´m a Taliban because I like gothic art? You say the game is UNREAL, then you talk about pop-culture and females on TV and female warriors, sex appeal..
What the hell has to do all that which sharing with the comunity some of my preferences in sci-fi? I share a little of me and I´m beeing flamed. Why?

PD: I look the reply of briachiae to my second post and I´m still thinking my references to his sex life are suppressed in comparision to an entire paragraph of attacks against my person.

ARE YOU ALL CRAZY?

I'd just like to take this opportunity to mention that in times of yore, the Picts went into battle wearing nothing but blue paint.

And also to point out that the very notion of a thread as trivial as this devolving into a flamewar is extremely LOL.

I've been starting to play the original "UT" again on and off - I'm doing the single-player mode. :D

For a long time, I thought Vanessa was twelve when she was commited, but when I saw Vanessa's Bio in-game, the Bio said she was ELEVEN...I thought I remembered wrong, but your post throws a monkey wrench into that... :hmm: (I'm playing the "GOTY" edition, BTW...just saying that in case that somehow has something to do with it.)

Ok, sorry for the whole stupid "prude" thing. I realize that is not the case now. I just felt the desire to make it clear that, imo, I don't want a game that is humble in any aspect.

No one agreed with me thinking that you are oversensitive or that picture you posted wasn't ridiculous, that was only my misunderstanding and opinion(opinion about the picture). Some people, however, don't think that there should be a super strictness about dresscode, so it doesn't looked forced, and there isn't a huge need for meticulous realism in a scifi shooter called unreal. Actually, no one said that. But that is why I think some people aren't being bothered by not having all characters being completely covered in full armor.

Sure, all females can be fully covered in armor as long as it isn't caused by the artists holding back because they are trying to protect sensitive gamers.(which no one here is) My "personal attacks" were to point out that it would be silly to make a game that was sensitive to sexuality enough to cover women up completely, yet at the same time be about a barbaric blood sport with profanity and etc.. (now I realize not a single poster here is sensitive, but they want a more believable game, yet I see nothing unbelievable with that concept art link you have posted)

btw: I, in no way, was referring to the romance in your life with the word "prude". If you interpretted my post being of that context, then I'm very sorry. This definition of prude is the only thing I intentionally related to the word when I posted that: "One who is excessively concerned with being or appearing to be proper, modest, or righteous." And I no longer have that misconception, I was so eager to jump to, that your posts were made with a concern for modesty or properness.

To UnrealGrrl: You rock, I could not have said it any better if I tried, and trust me I have.

To Kingman3: That is a sweet @ss model, and exactly why I say Epic needs new modelers. I would love if UT2007 had models that amazing.

To Persefone: Wow people now a day, you say the word Muslim and automatically you’re talking about terrorism. No, I was referring to the fact that every picture you posted was of females that were as conservatively dressed as a nun or Muslim female. The clothing design had about that much life to it as well (wow that just sounds gay  ). And culture, whether pop or otherwise, ALWAYS plays a major role in art. Whether that art is a painting, TV or play, or even a video game, it all boils down to what the people of that time are into. Currently it seems that this is sex appeal and material objects. Your before posted pictures, as well as Kingman3's picture demonstrate my point perfectly. Those pictures you posted were either created in or highly influenced by a very conservative time period. The picture Kingman3 posted, though also influenced by a similar era, has its majority of influence in the modern age and sci-fi movement. In a way you could argue that almost any art is both real and unreal as art blends the imagination with culture and emotion. In this sense UT is no different from any other piece of art ever created.

Now back to the fun stuff...

Kantham that’s almost exactly what I was thinking, except I thought the female looked more like Michelle Rodriguez:

Who knows maybe their concept artist is really into "The Fast and The Furious." :p

Oh, and briachiae and Neophoenix, there ARE women out there who are genuinely bothered by female characters who "dare to bare", and I actually think that gamers and game makers SHOULD respect that. :)

That said, the game industry shouldn't be forced to make "politically correct" games starring plain people dressed in gray coveralls, either. :p

A variety of characters and/or costumes would be the best solution, IMHO.
