Hi everyone,

I'm Julien and I'm ahead of a team of few artists, some are 3D guys like me (7years exp.) and some are drawers. We recently discovered UDK and found it so amazing that we thought we could put our old project back on the rails. We've been modding since Quake3 in our spare time and we had this cool FPS project too, but I never had the time to launch it properly. Freelance since a year I'm sure we can bring the baby alive now that I have a lot more free time.

Here it goes:

Team name:
Not yet

Project name:
Kids With Guns

Brief description:
Kids With Guns (named after a Gorillaz song) is a multiplayer FPS, involving kids and adults. The kids (11 to 17 yo) are orphans, traded, or runaway children. The story takes place in a very near future, when the economic crisis helped to split the cities in two: those who can eat everyday, and those who can't. Our 8 youths will have to help themselves to survive in their 8 favelas, slums, blocks... cause the authorities are willing to burn down their houses so they can expand the rich side of the city. So you'll be able to play in various types of matches: King of the hill, capture the food, kids vs kids and the "storytelling one": Kids vs Adults.

Depending on what kind of people you are, you'll choose to shot the teenage terrorist in the face or send a clear explosive message to the authorities with your cute little hands. This in the 8 maps located in Rio, Detroit, Paris, Beijing, Johannesburg, Tokyo, Cairo and Moscow.

Gameplay will be 80% realistic, 20% Arcade, so will the graphism.

Target aim:
We aim to release the game under the UDK License, as an Indie game, on online platforms like Steam and dedicated website.

Compensation:

The UDK license offer a lot of liberty. Each person willing to work on the project will earn a percent of all the incomes at release.

Technology:
We're developing with the Unreal Development Kit. The release will be computer oriented first.

Talent needed:
What we need the most:

-Level Designers
-Coders
-Scripters

But we also need:
-Painters
-3D Modelers
-Animators
-Sound Designer
-References/textures photographers

Team structure:
I'm a 3D modeler, writer, and a bit of a level designer. The team has also a coder, a level designer, a sound designer, an animator, a concept drawer and a 3D modeler. We're looking for more people to ensure a not too long devlopment.

Website:
Not yet, but as soon as the team is completed, the project will be launched for good and then we'll show stuff.

Contacts:
kidswithgunsgame@gmail.com

Previous Work by Team:

We all been working for years, and some of us have been modding since Quake 3 and Half-Life. Now we want to go to a next level.

Additional Info:
You can find the background story in the following reply.

Feedback:
We're looking for motivated people, but constructive critics are welcome too!

If you think you got what it takes, then we welcome you, you can join me at:

kidswithgunsgame (at) gmail (dot) com

If we don't fill all the positions during the coming weeks, the project will be canceled so nobody waste time. If they are then we'll make a cool awesome Indie Game with each a percent of the possible incomes.

Spread the word mates!

Julien

Background Story:

Economic crisis did not strike fast. It has been growing for centuries. The poor, the rich, the middle class... it is not natural order, it is an organization. Lobbies drive the governments with moral violence, so the the governments drive the people with moral violence. And the violence ends in the streets, everywhere. That's not true, not anywhere, only where the people refuse abuses, so then they suffer physical violence.

Years have passed and the economy has grown from its ashes. But some people lost everything, millions of them are struggling to survive. So, as they did for centuries they live of a parallel economy, in abandoned suburbs. But I told you, the economy is back from the deads and willing to progress always more, so companies buy the suburbs and decide to transform them, even if it means turning thousands of people in refugees. Most of those projects will succeed, yeah, life is a bitch; but some won't, maybe, it depends on you. Take a side: will you expropriate people who have no legal rights to stay there and are a pain in your beloved country's ass? Or will you help the ones who can't help themselves?

Ah, kids, they are so... innocents? Yeah, that's why they won't buy the speech of the authorities. They are insignificant... so nobody tried to corrupt them like the adults have been. They are the only hope of their neighborhood, maybe it is a lost cause, but anyway, they are already lost.

Raùl is a child of the favelas, he used to be a spotter when his brother was selling drug in the dirty streets of Rio de Janeiro, before he got killed. This son of no family avenged that crime with more violence and became the protector of his town. The national TV interviewed him so he could invite the whole world to refuse the violence of the authorities, whoever they are. His words ran all around the world and found echoes.

In a trailer park of Detroit, a little girl watched him on TV, they said he was a terrorist, she toutght he was handsome. She never had a brother, only a drunk mum and a dad who once was a hunter in Iowa. Now he is drunk too and hunts his wife in the trailer so he can beat her, grizzly style. She started to shoot in the woods with her dad when they were living in a small country house. But the mortgage came and they had to leave. Now Paloma is training with her scout on the roof, aiming the street lights 1/2 mile ahead.

Evgeni was eating in front of his computer, watching online videos when he saw Raùl claiming no one should have to obey to anything. Right, he never liked to answer his father, an abusive FSB instructor who liked to shout at everyone. The one who left his mother in the dangerous Moscow suburbs when they divorced. A bag, weapons from it's dad armory, false escape documents from it's dad's desk, underpants and here he was: a 13 yo grown up man joining Raùl.

Someone else was bored of his dad's choice. Lee was born on the Beijing banks. From a poor family his father sacrificed everything to become a middle class car-owner chinese man. He had to move to South Africa since last year, working for a chinese company who operates real estate exchanges all around the world. Lee Jr. didn' t agree but had to follow his father in a totally different country, often left alone he soon met Adem.

Adem was an orphan, he stole to survive since he knew walking. He always lived in Johannesburg, one of the most violent city in the world. He was on a robbery when he met Lee. Asked for his money, Lee took Adem's gun and disassembled it. Since this day Adem followed him everywhere, so when Lee decided to go back to Beijing, Adem had to sneak into the plane, and rerouted it to Brazil, where he had seen Raùl on TV. He forced the pilot to land on a highway.

In the slums of Cairo, Nour lived in a cemetery. The radio told the story of those two terrorists, a south-african and a chinese who tried to crash on Rio and who have been helped to escape by a local criminal known as Raùl. Her mom was killed by terrorists in a bombing, on her way to the market. Nour knew the taste of blood. Her father was murdered in front of her when he yelled at someone he knew had place the bomb that killed his wife. Right at her feet, he died loosing his blood, and she felt the violence growing in her veins. She stayed there, prostrated, and when the police and medias arrived, she swore in front of the world that she would punish every responsible of violence, by a more violent answer. She ran away and eventually bumped into Matthieu.

Matthieu was in Cairo for the holidays. The first holidays in 15 years. Matthieu usually lived in Paris suburb, the poor one, the violent one. The suburb he met Ibrahim, an imam trying to send the kids of the block on holidays so they can discover new horizons. So did he when he landed in Cairo with the group of kids. When Nour ran into him he knew in her look she was running away from someone, so in a second he took her hand and helped her melt into his group. As the cops where running by them, missing Nour, Matthieu understood he could not leave her alone and ,as a brother, helped her to get aboard the boat that will bring them back in France.

Tatsuya was... well... strange. He was one of this Tokyo kids who lived too much in the street and experienced too much things. His brain could have melt said the doctors, his parents accepted to emancipate him at 16 so they could avoid the troubles he brung every day. He joined the army to travel but somewhere in the middle of the ocean, fighting against teammates he went to the sea and disappeared in the dark waters. Ten months later he was spotted in Colombia burning down a whole cocaine lab, he was heading south...

The thirty last years, lobbies and worldwide companies bought a lot of land, a lot of blocks, so the governments can empty their debts. There has been some changes in those areas, and when the cops did abuses while applying the law, now the Authorities bring it to a new level. They are mercenaries, security companies, staff to make your life a controlled one and to be sure you won't compromise the economic plans of their employer. I told you some kids won't bend in front of such a threat. If they put a knee on the ground, it's just to be sure they'll broke the Authority's ankles...
