Weapon sounds differ under various conditions.
In open areas the sounds aren't so loud, sound dry and echoing.
At distances the sounds sound crispy, cracking, echoing and sort of wet.
Indoor the sound is very loud, having more depht and no echoing.

Would be nice to have the sounds behaving more real.

UT's sound capabilities are very bad. It's a shame that something SO important for immersiveness in any game is so underdeveloped for almost any engine out there.

HL1 sound engine is even better than ut2k4 apart from the radius which is bigger in ut2k4, but HL had active filtering ( i.e. underwater sounded like underwater ) which ut2k4 doesnt have. Eax may be able to do it but eax sucks.

That new soundcard, x-fi is supposed to take load off the cpu for sound algoritms. In a way its a good development but its sad that engines these days only strife for graphics and not for sound. Creative are behind it btw, which is also reason for strong doubt.
