Definitely agree that there's a few balance issues, tho the severity depends on who you ask.
I believe it was BigAl that told me he was using Tank more often because it's the only class that "can hurt the Assassin" and I do agree that the Assassin is an absolute pain in the ass if the enemy has a good one on their team. Just like the Spy in TF2, if someone is good and/or smart with it, they will drive you batsh*t crazy

Backstabs from Assassins are almost always lethal with Tank and maybe Gunner being the only ones that can survive it. Unfortunately there's a few out there that instead of smokebombing away, they'll backstab using the shurikens then backpedal while launching those.
Annoyingly enough, it is a very effective tactic if the ping is on the Assassin's side as it'll let them backpedal out of their target's grapple range
Best way to counter Assassins, stay in groups and keep your ears open. Even if a "Sin" gets in for that grapple they won't live much longer than that

Another gripe is how badly hitreg can suffer on the Tank railgun once the ping starts to rise. I've had games where shots that should have landed just pass through like they weren't there

Finally some news about MNC! Thx hal for that review. What a nice fresh game. Good balanced, less of bugs, great support, enough servers with good pings, well sorted graphics fun to play and in further updates they promise editor support! But 80/100? Are you serious? At least ist should be 85/100.

Visual style is of course inspired by TF2, however gameplay is basically a third person shooter take on DOTA the popular Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne map. Game is cheap as is but I will grab it next Steam sale.

You either rated UT3 too high or this Monday Night Combat too low ;). MNC is defiantly a better game, especially for 15$.

The developers are highly active on the forums and are good about putting out patches so far. Hopefully the map editor comes out soon, a 15$ with custom content capabilities is a must buy.

You sure?

You sure?

I remember incorrectly writing this game off at PAX East last year when I saw the promotional art they were using with a very Gorge-esque Gunner.

EDIT: The Tank design still reminds me of that UT2 model of a dolphin in a power suit.

The game is really fun. I was going to contribute to the review but I've been too busy the past few weeks at work. The game has really gone through several transformations even since release, with patches they are being very good about taking care of common complaints.

I haven't played this yet but I'm thinking if Epic is smart they really should tap Uber to assist with multiplayer design. Crossfire sounds oddly like Onslaught without the vehicles with some tower defense / MOBA elements and the class system added in.

I picked it up for 5 bucks when steam had the sale. Looked interesting, played it a bit. I think it can use some more game modes. Especially with core friends of 4-6 players.

Eh, make enough games and eventually you'll have to rip off someone else's idea
Crossfire is a bit like ONS, but only in that you get to attack the enemy moneyball(ie core)
The difference is players can't take the shield down, at all. You have to escort your bots to knock it down so you can damage it. At the same time you have to prevent the enemy bots from reaching yours.
In the way are 4 types of turrets and various hazards/traps, as well as the Annihilator, which if triggered with $250 will wipe out all enemy bots and knock about 1/5 of the healthbar off every enemy

Once you hit Overtime tho, it's basically whoever can kill the enemy moneyball first. I've had games in OT where the other team was pushed back into their base only for mine to lose because my teammates wouldn't just raid their ball

Here's the Wikia site for it: http://mondaynightcombat.wikia.com/wiki/Monday_Night_Combat_Wiki

Assassins are easy to kill once you gain enough experience with the game (not level experience, real experience). Even with gold armor they're very fragile and most weapons can rip them apart in a split second. Spotting them also isn't as hard as some of the nub assassins believe, when they're cloaked they're LOUD and when they're somewhat close to you their cloaking gets weaker so you can easily spot and kill them if you hear them approach. The tank is by far not the only class who can kill them easily. The sniper has a deadly grapple and a high DPS SMG, the support has his shotgun that assassins love to run into, the assault can use his rifle or just charge-grapple the assassin out of the ring and the gunner's minigun just murders ANYTHING that gets close (for laughs you can also ground slam to toss the assassin off the map).

There's no inherent advantage to being higher level in MNC, the only unlock that makes you better at the game is your first custom class slot (costs 15k, average payout per match is 3k) because it lets you stick your preferred endorsements on your pro, after that more custom class slots are only for convenience. All endorsements are unlocked from the start though the files look like they were originally supposed to cost money to unlock. Joining a game in progress is a bit bad because you didn't get to build up the money to upgrade your skills but for the most part everything is down to player and team ability.
