Hello,
Tribes Vengeance Open Beta is said to be released today or tomorrow and maybe a few of you are interested in playing it in a small fun tournament. The tournament is called ETL, which stands for European Tribes League and can be found here: http://www.euro-tribesplayers.com/newetl/

Signups are open and will close on saturday 11th at midnight. The tournament will start the following monday 13th. These dates may change if TV Open Beta is delayed, as it is aimed to have 1 week of Open Beta before starting.

The format of the competition is a group stage followed by a knockout stage. The top two teams from each group will progress to the knockouts. We are aiming for about 4 groups of 4 or 5 teams, so about 18-20 teams.

I'm afraid it's for Europeans only.

Not only are signups now open, but we have some great news too! The tournament prizes are sponsored by Vivendi Universal Games. More information on this when we have it.

For those who have played in previous ETLs for Tribes 1 and Tribes 2, don't stop reading, the format is slightly different from previous ETLs.

In the past ETL has featured more gametypes than Capture the Flag and will continue to do so.
In Tribes it was Capture the Flag, Capture & Hold and Find & Retrieve. Tribes II had Capture the Flag, Capture & Hold and Siege.

For Tribes Vengeance Open Beta it will be 2 maps of Capture the Flag and 1 map of Fuel or Ball.
The reasoning behind this is that there are only 4 maps in Open Beta, of which 2 support Fuel and only 1 supports Ball, not to mention that Capture the Flag is probably the most polished gametype of the three. The thing to keep in mind is that the game is still in beta stage and should we encounter something which doesn't work we are ready to remove that.

The default team size will be 7vs7, but if both teams agree, you can also play 8vs8 or 9vs9. Matches will be played on set nights at 19:00/20:00 and 21:00 CET. At present time Sunday and Monday are chosen When signing up, teams can comment on which they would prefer to play on. The games will be evenly split over both nights so it may not be possible to accommodate a team's choice although we shall try.

Each match will be observed by an admin, and we are hoping to have shoutcasts from as many of these as possible. We're in cooperation with Tribesdemos.com / T2demos.com, where the admin observer demos will be uploaded to.

The ETL is meant to get feedback & ideas on teamsize and various other things for the upcoming competition system, but foremost it's meant to be fun. Looking forward to seeing you.

If you have any questions, we have a forum and can also be found on irc.quakenet.org #etl and #theladder. :)
