hello all! glad to see some of the old brethren in my "old friends" thread from a few weeks ago.

since giving up on INF and relentlessy trying to find a new realism game to take it's place, i ended up on America's Army. i've been playing regularly for about 3 months, and as obnoxious as i found the game in the beginning, i'm pretty addicted now...

cons: crosshair at close range - low honor noobs (playing SF maps you dont encounter many of these)

pros: everything else!

the pros far outweigh the cons, and clan matches in this game are a blast. standard game type kind of blows, but playing SF (special forces) maps and weapons is where the real fun is.

has anyone else here given this game a try recently, and if not would you be willing to? would love to see you guys on a realism battlefield... and hopefully on the same side, because most all of you on the forums are pretty badass!

I play AA fairly regularly and would love to play with some INFers. Crac and I played the other day and almost single-handedly wiped out the opposing team, just because we were covering each other.

Yay for the strafewhorage game!! weeee. Ready, Set, GO and strafe side to side while spraying on full auto!11 Oh and don't forget the ridiculously powerful 40mm grenades that can kill you 5 sec after spawning. I also like all the bullet proof decos and bulletproof glass everwhere. Also a nice touch of realism that the M9 pistol does more damage than the M4A1. :hmm:

Actually some of the maps can be kind of fun when you aren't getting strafe-gayed or fog-gayed, and there aren't any aimbotters, and you are playing with clanmates on TS. :)

I like SF-WaterTreatment, SF-Oasis, SF-Arctic, SF-Blizzard, SF-Extraction, and 82nd Airborne JRTC Farm Raid.

BTW I have about 32 honor IIRC.

Yeah, the strafewhorage is bad. I'd already have a few ideas to fix it. Too bad you can't mod it :\

As for the rest, pretty interesting. Despite all the things I hate about it (incl. de fog engine 2k3), all the bad things are quickly forgotten with all the good occasions for teamwork in the EAS-like gametype.

Few major bug though. This week, SWAT, Wolfe and I came on one similar to ones in INF 2.85. Pretty stupids one at that. I guess they haven't yet figured out replication and especially not relevency. Glad I'm not the only one :p

Man, give that sh1t a rest. Every game that anybody mentions a new game at least one person responds with the same "strafewhor" BS. Instead of getting a new game, get a new complaint.

I played AA from the first day of the release. I played it intensively some time ago and have to admit that I had some extremely intensive good games with AA.

What I dislike the most is the weapon damage, single shots are useless. That caused me to quit.

I like the movement, communication, THE LOOKS (awesome models, animations).

But I think it still doesn't reach the level of INF, but the look of AA is so god damn nice.

Nuke, no it's still the same and as long as the US Army is making that game it will most likely stay that way.

I for one would like to get some games going with you Inf'ers! We [GD's] have had a few games with 5 of us on the same side. While not all of us have played a lot of AA we seemed to either hold our own or rock their asses. Using Team Work and the use of TS makes AA a heck of a lot of fun!

FYI, there is a GD Practice Server (70.129.204.22:1716 PM me for password).... Perhaps if ya'll want to do a warm up then go Public Honor Server let us know.

BTW, my honor = 62. Between 2.86 and 2.9 I played a LOT.

awesome...glad to hear i might see you guys in another game soon. my honor = 48, and i owe my low honor AA ass kicking skills to INF.

i play for a clan called HyFu, 8.6.3.84 is the IP. i'm on vacation right now until the 29th, but would love to get some games going with GD odie.

KW a lot of the issues you were bitching about were improved in the newest patch (2.5), and playing SF maps on AASA servers with punkbuster enabled pretty much removes the possibility of hacks. in fact, most servers actually check screenshots, etc to prevent cheating -- more than can be said for INF!

edit :: forgot, AA name is {{HyFu}}Cobra

Last time I played AA I got bitched at for firing on green tracers on a night map. Some shmuck decided to take an enemy AK for a trophy and fire it past me.

Oh, and the game crashes my computer beyond repair whenever a flashbang is thrown. That gets old pretty fast.

Dunno if anyone has mentioned it yet but: WarRock. It's essentially a work in progress BF2-esque game that's been growing in popularity. It's being developed by some Korean chaps who should probably be making games professionally.

I agree with KW. AA:O is far from being 'realistic', let alone, 'fun'.

The strafing effectively ruins the game, considering that your combat effectiveness meter only drops two notches when you strafe back and forth. The 'use' function for opening doors is slightly buggy to say the least. The damage variables are laughable, and the only way to really kill someone (in practically every case) is to strafe and spray.

Basically, the core design of the game favors idiocy over patience. The players that actually defend objectives and cover entrances end up being strafe-gayed by snap-shooting bunny-hoppers who are rewarded with 'honor' for their 'realistic tactics'.

Really, it's quite excellent.

The fact that most server admins openly oppose realistic tactics (such as sniping and defending objectives) is the icing on the cake.

The conefire and fog doesn't help either.

Which leads me to the 'please oh please' thread that I yelled out. Actually pretty much self explanatory why they need to be a next Infiltation, because it is the first and single of its kind and honestly will stay it for a long time.

i suppose there might be a handful, but i've never played on a server like that or even heard of a server like that. to say that most servers admins rule that way is a pretty huge (and false) generalization

Actually, it's pretty accurate.

Turn your filters off and connect to some popular SF Exclusive servers.

Have at it, champ.

WarRock isnt a bad game, Its laggy tho.
You can drop someone with a shot to the head, finish you clip into them,
and.....

THEY STILL KILL YOU???!!!!!

lol

And in AAO 2.5 single shot makes a diffrence,
Since 2.5 came out, I have dropped more people aimed, in single than anything.

Also from what I understand, the developers of AAO plan to implement a Player vs AI.
